Hell, they can barely be bothered putting them out now. What they aim to do is take control of their properties, copyrights and images from those profitting from them.>> Ok, I get that and I think it is a smart move, a company which has most of its assets in intellectual property needs to make sure to protect that. That's why things like TRIPS and ACTA are such a big deal. But what does it have to do with Next Gen?? Well, perhaps if Next Gen is pure Disney magic, the link I am missing will magically appear... <<The use of NEXTGEN tech involves bringing some things from the past back without actually bringing them back.>> Ok, that sounds even more strange... reminds me of Harry Potter (the books, not the ride). But that might again be the magic link which I can't see because I am too unmagical...

I would imagine a scenario where you could literally stand at the entrance to TomorrowToonland and use your mobile device to select a map of the area in say 1971 ... or 1977 ... or 1990 ... or 1998 etc ... and immediately see what the area looked like virtually and then experience parts of say Flight to the Moon, If You Had Wings or Timekeeper. That would make sense from all I've been told and extrapolating a bit ... and that likely would make it more important for Disney to shut down the folks selling DVDs of the old attractions, which they really should do anyway on IP/copywright principle.

I am just not really convinced about this project, there are a number of issues I have with this. First, if it is based on mobiles (perhaps by mobile device you mean a device which you get from Disney like the Kimunicator?) this will already exclude most international visitors, no way I would pay for the data roaming fees that would cause! Then, if I am in a Disney park, I really want to experience the park I am at, go on rides, watch shows, soak up the atmosphere - in general: do things that I can't do at home. Watching films about old attractions is something that I can do at home, and I would have a bigger screen and therefore are more enjoyable viewing experience as well.

That would make me dislike the current show even more, and it just doesn't make sense that Disney would implement things this way.

Maybe at home, but there..?

I'd also guess that you'd pay a certain 'extra' and rent a device from Disney ... maybe a MAGICal iPad56 ...I've heard they are going to do a similar type tour at the site of '64 World's Fair. To answer Bolna, I'm sure it would be available in multiple languages.

My issue was if you have to use your own mobile phone, in order to get the content on your phone you would have to go online with the phone. Not something I want to do in a foreign country because I would have to pay huge amounts of money for every MB... DLP now has a mobile app which lets you access wait times when you are in the parks, but even in France it would have been pretty expensive to use that with my phone. But since you think that the device will be rented from Disney, I don't need to worry.

It makes absolutely no sense to have past WDW compete with present WDW. It's like you're saying what we offer today isn't good enough, so maybe you would like to see how it use to be. That's just never going to happen because it would be totally idiotic on so many levels. If you want people to judge the past put it on DVD, charge $49.99 for it, and let people reminisce at home after they've spent their money at the parks.
