Is this the same MPierce that in another thread was decrying the growth of the federal government, wasteful spending, and a return to the model of the nation that the Founding Fathers had in mind? I don't remember reading anywhere in the Constitution that we should fund an expensive manned space program. Why not let the private sector run and fund the space program? If it's in the national economic interest, then market forces will cause companies to step forward and make the necessary investments to the extent that they see a profit potential.

I doubt anyone here thinks I have any lost love for the last Prez. Matter of fact, about the only thing I totally supported him on was his goal for a moon base and onward to Mars. Only problem was it was all rhetoric with no billions set aside to make it happen (and countless billions going to our war machine and Wall Street) ...

It's beyond pathetic to think that in the 19freaking60s we could land men on the moon and safely return them to Earth and in anothet year we'll have no viable (and the absurdly bad shuttle program was never viable at much other than being a truck, costing way too much and ... oh yeah, killing astronauts) way of sending an American man or woman into space unless we send them to Russia.

It kinda reminds me of flying period. We don't move forward really. We killed the Concorde ... and we now make it so uncomfortable and unpleasant that you have to be George Clooney to enjoy the experience really ... nothing like being stuffed in a packed coach cabin of a 20-plus year-old MD88 or 737.

Now ... what were we talking about?

Yes the same one, and two totally different matters. I think you know that, and for some reasons have your sights set on me. Believe me I will be more than happy to play that game with you.

I never said Space should not be a venture by private business. They are attempting larger steps into Space each year. However the hugh amounts of money required for funding can substantally slow the process down. I have never said there was no place for Government involvement in some ventures. You will only here me crying foul when I see Government stepping in, and attempting to take over industries that have historically been runned by a free enterprise system. For instance you will never here be crying about Government funding of the Military.

You also know the founding Fathers could never invision where the Government was going. They also couldn't envision the mass number of projects the Government would be forced to be involved in due to technology advancements. I can't list all the things I think the Goveernment has a legitatment right being involved in. If you don't see the stratigic reasons for our Government to be involved in Space, not to mention the humanitarian reasons, I'm afraid I can't help you see the difference.

I'll anxiously be awaiting your next snide remark.

Merf prefers conversations that allow him to practice his righteous indignation. If someone would insult his career choices, we might get to see that happen.

Or you could ask him about WDI and painting the swing ride at DCA ... but if you want, I'll insult his career choices?

I guess you could say it's more of an indepth analysis of the current situation of TWDC as seen from a lifetime AP holder, lifetime Disney Fan, and World Wide travler, and connoisseur of theme parks. Rather than rantings of indignation, and disgust of a mad man, which I'm sure is the way Disney Executives refer to them.
