Once, when I was about 3, I climbed (who knows why) onto the edge of a deep hole in a construction area near the home of some family friends. I guess I wanted to see what it felt like to dangle my feet over the pit. I was screaming for help, hanging on the edge on the top edge with all my might and luckily, my parents heard me before I fell in. Another time on a rafting trip in 8th grade, I fell out of the raft, and was hanging onto a big rock, trying not to get swept into the rougher, fastter water just ahead of me. Pretty sure I was going to drown at that moment. I remember thinking in almost a calm way "Huh, so this is how I'm going to die. My parents are gonna' kill me." Then terror set in and I was able to pull myself close enough to shore to escape. In high school, after a huge series of misunderstandings too long to tell here, I answered the door at my aunt's house and a police officer was pointing his gun at me, telling me to come outside very slowly with my hands in plain sight. A school crossing guard saw my brother and I enter my aunt's house, somehow mistook us for robbers (using a key?) and called the police.

Last February when DH & I went down to visit my Granddad, Granddad kept taking us out to eat every chance he got. Then came Saturday afternoon when Noma (the woman Granddad has been married to since 1980) made us lunch. Oh my GOSH - bland, bland, bland, and freaky consistency. It was kinda funny - later than afternoon, Noma wnet off to a birthday party for one of her friends and Eric (DH) took off to a hardware store to look for a hose he could use to fix my Mom's washing machine when we passed through SA on the way back up to Austin. SO, that left Granddad and me to chat. As we're chatting, he apologizes for lunch. Said that Noma's kids all think she's just the greatest cook ever, but (and this really is a quote!), "Noma's cooking can't touch a pimple on your Grandma's butt!" hehehehe Also got told that though Noma claims she graduated high school (keep in mind, this lady is around 86 years old), he REALLY doubts it. Now, granddad and Noma married, I think because they were both lonely (my Grandma died about 9 months beofre Granddad and Noma married, and Noma's husband had died about 3 months prior to Grandma), and they're great companions when they want to be. I think they love each other on SOME level, but, well, Granddad can't stnad Noma, I think. And, to be honest, that's ok with me becuase (A) my Daddy never liked her and I trust his judgment in people better than ANYONE else's, even though he's been dead for over 13 years now), and (B) she wore an orange polyester pantsuit to my Daddy's funeral. This was in 1990, mind you. Orange polyester pantsuit! NOT FUNERAL CLOTHES, DANGIT! Anyhow, wordy enough response for question 1, ya think? Oh, and so I don't look like a total heel regarding Granddad's wife, I DO cre4idt her caring & companionship for helping keep my Granddad alive for these last 24 years, through multiple heart attacks, the onset of diabetes, and at least two bypasses. I don't now if he just wants to outlast her to ensure she doens't try to take over the house that he built with his own two hands (and that my Daddy helped build!) or what, but whatever the reason is, I shall forever be grateful to Noma for helping my Granddad be the one grandparent I still have in my 30s, especially amazing because he's always been the least healthy in general. At leat, as far as I knew... 2. Do you have a pool, a spa or both? The apartment complex I live in has both, of course! VERY nice landscaping, too. 3. Would you still color in colouring books if given the chance? Well, yeah. I've got a Harry Potter coloring book my husband bought me at Sam's Club a while back (it's BIG), and so I went out and bought a 96-count box of Crayons that was actually the 100th anniversary box, so it has 4 extra Crayons! I jsut ahven't gotten around to using the book or Crayons yet. Ok, next round... lather, rinse and repeat: 1. Ever been to a friend's or relative's house where the food was just awful? 2. I guess with other families, if your COUSIN has a child, then that makes the child your SECOND COUSIN... On my dad's side, if the COUSIN has a child, then that child is your NEPHEW or NIECE, and you are their UNCLE/AUNT. I'm not sure if it's a race thing or not though...

When I was a kid (age 5 to infinity) I always wanted a toy electric car. I had it invisioned in my head exactly what it looked like and how it operated. I would daydream, while on my tricycle, all day about having one of those. I could see myself driving up and down the sidewalks around my home, proud and cool. Why is this so special? Because it was around 50 years ago and toy electric cars didn't exist and to my knowledge hadn't even been seriously thought of. The technology of the time would have not made it possible. The amazing thing to me is that the models of today are EXACTLY how I saw them in my head way back then. Even how they would work. If I could only have been able to read and write back then I could have had it patiented and I would be rich today. Sigh....
