Do you have satelite TV or cable TV? If you have saelite are you satisfied with it? Pros and cons? Cable TV. I'm satisfied with it, although I resent paying for so many "Home Shopping" channels. I've no interest in satellite at this time. 1. Do you participate in any "white elephant" or joke gift exchanges? If so, what's the silliest gift you received? 2. What's your least favorite holiday song? 3. The Ghost of Christmas Past pays you a visit one night to show you a significant holiday memory from your past. What do you see?
Originally Posted By melekalikimaka 1. Do you participate in any "white elephant" or joke gift exchanges? If so, what's the silliest gift you received? I do not participate in any joke gift exchanges anymore but I am going to suggest it to my friends for next Christmas. My funniest gifts were a candy pooping moose (hey, those are Raisinettes!) and my singing Xmas tree (the one that freaking blinks at you while it sings!) Needless to say, they aren't a part of my current decor. 2. What's your least favorite holiday song? I don't have more than just one... Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney. This song is so bland. Chrissy the Christmas Mouse sung by Debbie Reynolds (I have no idea where it came from but they play it on digital radio...and it sucks.) Baby, It's Cold Outside sung by Rod Stewart and Dolly Parton (pretty realistic couple, wouldn't you say?) Christmas at Our House by Barbara Mandrell simply for the usage of the word "snitchin'" (Also a digital radio song.) 3. The Ghost of Christmas Past pays you a visit one night to show you a significant holiday memory from your past. What do you see? Oh, this is a tough one. Not a lot of happy memories of Xmas' past. Mostly memories that make me glad I'm an adult, have my own home and don't have to do anything I don't want to do. I'm not being lazy; I'd like to hear someone else answer 2oony's questions.
Originally Posted By goodgirl 1. Do you participate in any "white elephant" or joke gift exchanges? If so, what's the silliest gift you received? Yes. We do a silly one on Christmas Eve. It helped when there were young kids in the family. Now we're pretty much all adults and teens but we still do it anyway. People save any swag or free stuff they receive during the year. You wrap it up. We go around the room; you get to pick a gift; open it; trade; etc. Some of the stuff is cool (I get neat computer stuff from some of my vendors) and some of it is just plain silly (my sis-in-law works for a gastro-enterologist (sp?) clinic and gets the strangest things from the sales reps. The strangest thing I ever got from a white elephant exchange was called an Indian Weather Predictor. It had a wood base with a slanted six inch pole imbeded at a slight angle. Dangling from the pole was a leather cord with a small rock tied at the end. The 'weather key' went something like this: If the rock is wet, it is raining. If the rock is dry, it is sunny. If the rock is white, it is snowing. Etc. 2. What's your least favorite holiday song? I don't care for Elvis' rendition of Blue Christmas. 3. The Ghost of Christmas Past pays you a visit one night to show you a significant holiday memory from your past. What do you see? Ten years ago. The first Christmas without my mom. She had died at age 82 on Dec. 5. (Interestingly my dad died 20 years ago on Christmas day.) Anyway, my mom had been bedridden for 18 months and I was lucky enough to participate in her care. She was able to die in her own home--the one where she was raised as a child. My brothers and sisters and I ended up having a wonderful, loving Christmas. Most of it was laughing at fun memories about my mom. Her death drew my five sisters and I into a very close relationship for which I am grateful. While one might think it would be a sad holiday, it was one of warmest, most pleasant I've ever had.

In fact, Mr. Glitter rarely even mentions one item that he wants. Consequently, he can be a challenge to shop for. This year, however, I'm quite happy with the things I found for him. Each and every one of them, by the way, was something I just stumbled across that screamed his name--I love it when that happens! He's getting an uber-cool handheld Texas Hold 'Em game (the official World Series of Poker one, thankyouverymuch), another poker game he can play on the kids' Nintendo system, an old arcade game from our youth that he used to love, also playable on the Nintendo system, some shirts that he will look gorgeous in, and a gift certificate for a massage (his first professional massage, something he's hesitantly mentioned he'd like to try on several occasions, but he would never just make himself an appointment). And suddenly I'm very happy just thinking about how much he's going to love all those gifts! 2. If you have pets, do you do anything special with / for them at Christmas? Do they give gifts? We have pet mice. Sigh. (As a former cat lover and dog tolerator, I have to say the mice are quite a step down, petwise). They always get a gift from two of our best friends in Michigan, though, or rather from those friends' cats. The gift tag always has very shaky handwriting and clever misspellings so that it looks like the cats really did wrap it themselves--pretty cute! 3. Will you be perusing laughingplace.com on Christmas Eve? Christmas Day? Definitely on Christmas Eve, possibly on Christmas Day. ************************************** Good questions--let's do them again.

Something you spent time searching for? Or something you stumbled upon and knew it was exactly the right gift? My husband is very hard to buy for. He only says he wants things like socks and shirts. He looks great in sweaters, but doesn't like to wear them, too hot. He would look great in a leather jacket, has no interest in that either. He likes jigsaw puzzles and he's getting one, but for a nice gift I need to look for and will know it whken I see it. 2. If you have pets, do you do anything special with / for them at Christmas? Do they give gifts? No pets. 3. Will you be perusing laughingplace.com on Christmas Eve? Christmas Day? Christmas Eve yes. Christmas Day, probably not. -------------- 1. It's not a Christmas gift but Greg and Michelle got me a bag of Scooby-doo stuff for my b-day and it was so unexpected and great. 2) Are you a creative gift-wrapper or do you use the plastic bag and a bow method? Ugh! My presents look like my cat wrapped them. It's sad. 3) Have you ever been able to celebrate a winter holiday that was not your usual with friends or family who opened their way of life to you? I have been to a traditional Hindu wedding, which was so neat to experience.

Defend your choice. I guess cold weather. You can put extra clothes on and turn the heat up to be warm. I just don't do well in heat and humidity. --------------- 1. What was the last book you read? What did you like or dislike about it? 2. If Mary Poppins was being remade and they were casting LPers who would play Mary, Bert, and Mr. and Mrs. Banks? 3. What are your hobbies?
Originally Posted By Labuda 1. What was the last book you read? What did you like or dislike about it? Lost by Gregory Maguire - it was ok, but I wish I'd read it before Wicked, Mirror Mirror and Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister. While the book was ok, I was expecting so much more after having read his updated fairy tales. 2. If Mary Poppins was being remade and they were casting LPers who would play Mary, Bert, and Mr. and Mrs. Banks? Mary would be SuzieQ, Bert would be Byron, I think Klucky would be able to pull off Mrs. Banks, and I'd cast Heinz as Mr. Banks, just for a change of pace. 3. What are your hobbies? Hobbies? Who has time for those? Seriously, though, btwn work at Dell & work at theatrem, I don't have time for much, but I'd say my hobbies are: Disney, music, movies, and reading. Good questions - let's do them again!

It is a Northern Exposure-esque setting with some of those quirky character types. It's a murder mystery/human character study/romance. You just can't beat that combination with a stick. 2. If Mary Poppins was being remade and they were casting LPers who would play Mary, Bert, and Mr. and Mrs. Banks? Mary: Ursula Bert: Kar2oonMan Mr. and Mrs. Banks: sheesh, *I* don't know, why do these questions have to be so hard anyway? 3. What are your hobbies? Reading, playing poker, traveling to Disney parks way too frequently and subsequently being known among people far and wide in North Texas as "that Disney nut." Oh, yes, and I try to squeeze in a few minutes each week on this little online discussion board I like to visit occasionally. . . maybe you've heard of it; it's called Laughing Place. **************************************** New year, new questions. Time to shake things up around here. 1. What is the stupidest thing you have ever done? 2. What is the bravest thing you've ever done? 3. What sappy/silly/sweet thing always makes you cry?

I gave a speech in front of City Hall in San Diego. It was the longest 3 minutes of my life. 3. What sappy/silly/sweet thing always makes you cry? Oh dear, I am always crying of sappy/silly things. One example is in the movie Sense and Sensibility when Elinor starts crying when Edward said Lucy married Robert--I lose it everytime. Here are the next questions: 1. What was the worst thing that happened to you in 2004? 2. What was the best? 3. What are your resolutions for 2005?

To resume my daily walks for exercise. Same questions: 1. What was the worst thing that happened to you in 2004? 2. What was the best? 3. What are your resolutions for 2005?

To *ACTUALLY* get my butt into shape this year.
