FWIW, don't those countries have separation of "mosque and state"?

Again, FWIW, even the most rabidly fundametalist Christian and Jewish sects are not committing this sort of barbarism today.

Sorry Beau but it won't ever happen. The Turkish population is much less fragmented than Iraq's with 90% of the people being Sunni Muslim.

I don't agree at all RoadTrip. The Northern part of Iraq where the Kurds live is VERY peaceful and doing awesome!

Southern Iraq is also going very well around Basra.

The problem has been the Sunni Triangle and even that has calmed down in the last few months since the Sunnis have become involved in the political process.

Notice we are not losing as many soldiers these days!!

    Really?

    Military Fatalities: By Month
    Average US casualties per day
    2-2006 2.07
    1-2006 2.06
    12-2005 2.19
    11-2005 2.87
    10-2005 3.19
    9-2005 1.73
    8-2005 2.74
    7-2005 1.87
    6-2005 2.77
    5-2005 2.84
    4-2005 1.73
    3-2005 1.26
    2-2005 2.14
    1-2005 4.1

Since hostilities started, we've lost an average of 2.33 American troops per day. Looks like we are slightly below the average, but not by much.

Nice website... I'm sure this site is a major supporter of the military.
    Losers.

You don't hear about us losing a lot of solidiers on a daily basis any more. That was my point.

Hey, ask the military how they think Iraq is going now for yourself. Talk to guys in Iraq who are on the ground.

It's getting better, a lot better and it's happening in record fast time.

Is that official enough for you?

And knock off with the "losers", "wackjobs", and other sidejabs. It doesn't help your case. It's just childish and inflammatory.

I'm pretty dang liberal, and mighty critical of the current U.S. administration. But we've gone too far - we're tolerant of intolerance. This stuff is wrong, no two ways about it. And references to Christians doing the same thing 500 years ago does no good. This is today, the 21st century and women are still third-rate citizens in these countries.

I don't expect us to invade Iran. That's not the solution. But why aren't we marching in the streets against this kind of behavior with the same fervor that Muslims march against some childish cartoons? Where is the outrage of the so-called moderate Muslims? And where's our own outrage?

It's going to take another attack before people wake up and realize what we are against.
