Originally Posted By vbdad55 Yeah, that Chieftains song is from quite a while ago -- but pretty cool --I'm thinkin' more younger bands here... a lot falls under Celtic Rock (Folk) - so I will list a few if they come your way: From northern California - two bands -- Tempest & Avalon Rising both been around awhile and very good - ( Think Fairport Convention here for song types) - when I was in Toronto say 6 months back say a band called Great Big Sea ( I believe they were Canadian also ) - more traditional Irish music with a kick -- and places like Boston and Chicago with large Irish populations have a lot of bands. Chicago has a lot of traditional Irish bands also fun - the mack brothers / the Drover / Liz Carroll etc--but my favorite Celtic Rock band here right now is called Cirrus Falcon. Most large cities have Celtic Fests during the summer - and there are bands aplenty. Chicago and Milwaukee around here both have 3 -4 day fests - and I know there is a large on in Virginia ( around D.C> also )
