Also, they're so close that you really don't have to do the "day one at DL, day two at DCA" thing, unless you want to. In fact, many people start the day at DL (it typically opens earlier), then go to DCA in the afternoon when DL gets more crowded (and if you're going during Spring Break, chances are DL will be crowded), then head back to DL in the evening. The two parks are so close, that's very doable.

That doesn't really answer the OP's original question, which is basically: should they visit DL one day, and other SoCal attractions, OR spend more time at DLR?

My take is, it depends on what is more important... to get a real taste of DLR, or a glimpse of southern California. I don't think one day at DL is enough time to really enjoy it, especially with three kids in tow, so I think they may as well go for a three day hopper.

Adults are charged $63 for a ticket that allows you into ONE of the two parks for a day.
For $20 more, you can get an One Day ParkHopper that allows you to visit both parks in the same day.
If you are only going to be able to visit for one day, just get the Disneyland Park ticker for $63. Disneyland is open longer hours, and has a lot more attractions and entertainment than DCA.
Paying the extra $20 does not give you any more time to visit the parks, and there is more than a days worth of stuff at Disneyland, so there is no reason to pay the extra money.
Currently 3 day or more ParkHoppers are on sale thru late April, a 3 day ParkHopper is just $129 when bought in advance. In this case, yes, go ahead and check out DCA.<<

    Really????

I know for my family and friends paying a extra $20.00, even for just the one day, IS worth it.
I couldn't imagine NOT spending at least a few hours in DCA. We love it there :)

    Post 21 is right

Do DCA in the afternoon when the crowds at Disneyland get crazy and then hike back to Disneyland later that evening.

We like to leave DL when it's really crowded, like on 28th Dec when DL was VERY crowded, we went into DCA for a break, I'm thankful there is another option and think DCA is a fab place to go, $20 seems a bargain to me!
