Never thought I'd be interested in the Narnia films again, but that trailer did it...we'll see what happens. Here's another thought: no major theme park has ever done anything with The Wizard of Oz. (I thought that when Disney built the Disney-MGM park, that we'd get some Wizard of Oz rides or something, but no. Lost opportunity there). Since Disney is supposedly making an Oz movie (The Great and Powerful) there may be an opportunity to do something there...but really, any Oz ride would HAVE to be based on the MGM movie to succeed. Disney may again have let something slip through its fingers. On the other hand, I'd really rather that Disney just built more attractions based on its own Disney-made properties, like a Lion King ride or Mary Poppins or something like that. Yeah, that'll happen...

They have also been developing a movie based on the book and musical forever. I'm not really sure what Disney could have done with the property - the L. Frank Baum books have been in the public domain so anyone can develop property on them (hence why Oz fanatic Tony Baxter added it to DLP's Storybookland as the finale).

I've worked on phenomenal projects that I thought were a dead cert for greenlight that were killed stone dead and others that had be going "meh" that made it through. Ever since former imagineers set up shop on their own - even going back to the Bob Rogers of this world - they have been able to do things cheaper than WDI. It is just one of those things. I've said before that WDI has one of two options - to be the lean and mean outsourcer like Uni Creative or the in-house all-singing-all-dancing specialist like it was at the start of this decade. At the moment it seems to be stuck in the middle. It was deemed unnecessary to keep the basic AA fabrication in-house so it was jettisoned but there are still a host of generalist construction folks on payroll.

Just 35 minutes in length - it makes no sense whatsoever. And it cost USJ the earth to get it in there. Thankfully the normal version is playing in the Shiki Theater in Osaka.

Great novels, great show, it really foots Disney's want for franchises.
