Bingo......how is anyone ( even armed with pixie dust ) going to find 55,000 - 60,000 truly excellent services workers ?I doubt you could do this in NewYork - Chicago or LA - let alone central Florida.....

Well then they could always build say Disney's America, Westcot, Beastly Kingdom, Villians Park in va. I believe it was. Or better still NY or Mi :)

I wouldn't complain. I'd work there as a CM (Current rate of pay or higher pls :))

Just to let you know I'm sure I'm a lousy worker. At least that's how one of my internships went. (Interestingly enough some of my former patients from that hospital wonder where I went :p).

It is tough to gauge, exactly. (why I tend to not pick up clothing from other countries for friends back in the states ... I did some great guesswork at the Olympics this summer, but I had a fear nothing would fit!)

I buy XL at DLP and HKDL and the shirts fit fine. Now in USA sizes I'm usually a L, but have shirts in the closet that are M (and are loose fitting) and XL's (that are snug).

But generally, I think one size up in Paris works and two wouldn't be a disaster (you wouldn't look like you were wearing a tarp!)

<<I don't understand this post at all. Would you explain it to me?>>

I thought it was self-explanatory, but since you're likely home playing with fabric animals, I'll try and slow it down.

When I have been at WDW with gay friends or simply my own brother and/or other straight males (no females in the party) I have often felt that people were jumping to an incorrect conclusion about sexual orientation based upon my grouping ... and that they were doing so in a very not nice way.

It's a very conservative vibe that I don't ever get in Anaheim or Paris ... and you could even toss my sole experience in HK in too.

It's a mid-America 'we don't like your kind' vibe ... and while I am not a mindreader (before some smartass tosses that out here) I think we all get vibes when we are out in public and sometimes you can tell 'They really don't like me.'

Everyone is gay when they're at WDW, right?

It's such a happy, magical realm filled with joy and pixie dust.

How can you not feel gay in your heart?

I believe that WDW 'peaked' from a total quality standpoint in the 1986-1994 period.

That means across the board in all aspects, including value for he money spent.

There's no doubt in my mind WDW was a superior product in any of those years than it is today and that's leaving out things I love like DAK ... yeah, it's an amazing park but it doesn't equal out with all the WalMarting across property as a whole.

That was the whole point of my Four Parks: One Stale World thread (still available for reading and commentary at a Laughing Place near you!)

<<There are just too many quality additions(or additons that I favor) which easily overshadow the more recent shortcomings and frustrating features:>>

That's fair. It's your opinion. Many people would rather have quantity over quality. As to your list ... I'll just make some short comments ...

    <<Additions I thoroughly welcome:
Fast Pass>> I don't. And without having another debate on it, I think it causes far more headaches than it solves.

    <<Typhoon Lagoon>> opened back in 1989.

<<Blizard Beach>> opened back in 1995 ... glad both parks were added, but still wish RC wasn't rotting!

    <<Aventurer's Club(sorry to see it go!)>>

Me too. But PI opened again back in 89 when I felt WDW was at its best. It was adding new stuff without selling out its legacy ... its soul. Getting things done right for guests and cast still mattered. Not today.

<<The Studios(One Man's Dream, ToT, F!, Muppets, Brown Derby, Prime Time Cafe, Sci- Fi diner, Great Movie Ride)>>

Studios opened in '89 ... again. And I'm not going to debate each attraction. I used to love the park and now can go a year without visiting despite having an AP and living 2 1/2 hours away.

<<Animal Kingdom(Tree of Life, Kali River, Jungle Trek, Pang. Forest, Everest, Nemo Musical, Zak and Cody restaurant, Kil Safari) >>

I love DAK. It's about the only thing WDW has done right since its 25th anniversary, but I'd gladly give it up to go back to quality across the board and I'd say it to Joe Rohde's face (and have come close!)

    <<Test Track(loved WoM but I love TT more)>>

WalMarting of Epcot ... an alleged thrill ride with very little substance that pleases the masses. I know I am in the vast minority here, but I feel TT is the most overrated Disney attraction in history.

    <<Mission:Space(loved Horizons but I love M:S more also)>>

I enjoy it. But it is a failure. Not just my opinion, but by Disney's metrics. And an expensive one at that. Perhaps, if they had gone with one of the (at least) three prior concepts for a space pavilion they would have had better results.

<<Soarin'(yes, I have a problem with its theme but you bet I'll take it over nothing!)>>

I love it. One of the few 'additions' that didn't need a subtraction to happen first.

<<Living Seas Nemo---100x better than the old omnimover ride>>

Enjoy it. But no, it isn't 100X better than a cohesive dynamic exploration of the seas pavilion. Instead we have an aquarium that is falling apart with cartoon fish tossed in to attract the kiddies.

    <<Pooh(I'll take it over Toad)>>

    It's a tosss up.

    <<H. Mansion redo>>

I don't consider what used to be considered regular TLC and 'plussing' something that should be ballyhooed. It was very well done, but the fact we're talking about it shows how far Disney has fallen.

    <<Splash Mnt.>>

    1992

    <<Boo To You Parade>>

Nice parade at a hard-ticket party. I don't see how it has significance talking about Disney's overall quality slide.

    <<Barb + Jack Spar AA's>>

    See Mansion comment above!

<<MK Christmas Party hard ticket >>

Blech!!! I don't have anything else to say. Disney is charging you for what you used to get FREE and that's a good thing?

    <<AK Lodge
    Wilderness Lodge>>

My two favorite WDW resorts. One opened back in '94 (still my Golden Age).

<<The 'free' dining plan and Value resorts while not 'quality' I'm glad they are available since I have been known to tap them also.>>

I've stayed at the values many nights and twice I've done the DDP when it was FREE (the only time I'd ever do so). I feel both have contributed GREATLY to the WalMarting of WDW and have written here ad nauseum about that.

<<Even with the inexcusable modern day WDW features such as..... DVC everywhere, fairly clean instead of super clean parks(generally), fairly polite/helpful instead of super polite/helpful cast(generally), stamped out junk for sale on Main St., character/Pixar infusion into parks, princess/pirate cliches, token bag checks by security, proportionately higher prices, Bear Dung play area and those dreaded buses I still want to go.>>

Those are definitely all negatives and things you wouldn't have had to deal with 15-20 years ago.

<<Yesterday's WDW with its 2 park lineup and worthless River Country could not get me there if it were offered today.>>

Well. I'll just say that's sad. Because I was an APer back in those days and WDW offered far more quality across the board for far less money. And I just don't get the hatred for River Country. Since I spent some of the happiest days of my childhood there, I'm wondering if you had a traumatic incident there (lose bathing suit on a slide?) ... heck, I'm wondering when your first visit to WDW ever was?

That answer will likely help me understand where you may be coming from.

Ever hear of a team called the Longhorns?

But a Texas tee (shirt) could also just be one of them 'Don't mess with Texas or Babs is gonna tell Jeb to run for Prez.'

You know ... stuff like that!

    >> I said that I see more trashy folks (btw, I feel the need to add that I am basing this on watching boorish/antisocial behavior patterns ... not based on anything else like say wearing Texas tees) visiting WDW these days than I have in the past. <<

I would ... or I think so sometimes. But it doesn't matter.

I'd like to go back 15-20 years because I think the quality of life was higher for most Americans ... period.

But that's really neither here nor there.

<<Totally agree with you on the many great additions that I wouldn't want to do without either (though I'm not getting the hostility towards River Country, it was just a place to swim wasn't it? I never went, but it sounds like it was fine..small and charming and relaxing..what did I miss that makes you hate it so?).>>

I'm trying to get an answer on that myself.

it was a great -- and unique -- fun little park. It may not have had the massive swaths of concrete and dozens of slides like BB does, but it more than made up with natural beauty, a nice lake and fun attractions.

<<Anyway, maybe it is a size issue. Maybe it really is impossible to staff such an expansive resort with quality personnel in that region.>>

I guarantee you that if tomorrow Disney raised its minimum wage to $10-11-12 an hour, well, the quality of staffing would go up in a big way.

Disney pays for what it gets ... actually, that's not even true because so many CPers, internationals and retirees are GREAT despite getting paid so very little.

<<But I don't get the impression that Disney is trying hard enough to get there like they used to (and still do to a large extent..in Tokyo and Hong Kong).>>

    You get the right impression.

What is really scary is that I kinda pictured you unwrapping Mrs. Pierce's holiday-colored Hershey's chocolate kisses and ... well, you can figure out the rest.

I think you (and I) need help! :)

I meet up with my Bud from Dallas at WDW, and we ride the rides together while the women go do their thing. I never got that feeling ever. I see groups of men together all the time at WDW. Honestly, I can say the thought of them being gay never crossed my mind nor is it a concern of mine. A persons sexual persuasion is their own business, not mine, and I am pretty conservative. Are you guys holding hands, and skipping through the parks or something?
