    Why not?

I'm not looking for the parks to be turned back as you so put it. I don't want them to not change or be museums or any of that crap.

But I DO want the level of service that Disney USED to provide ... the level of QUALITY Disney USED to provide ... the level of CMs ... etc ...

So before I go off and lump you in with th WalMart loving DoM's here (and clearly from prior posts I don't think you belong there), care to 'splain a bit more of what you mean?

<<Sorry, but the days of River Country and paper passports with stamps showing days used up wouldn't interest me in the slightest even assuming the 'World' boasted of super clean parks, a smiling and bright faced cast and high quality shirts for sale in the shops.>>

Well, the passports are paper now ... just different grade ... I'd rather go back to the quality plastic ones with photos instead of the biometric readers, which according to a CM pal of mine work right on 'the third Tuesday of every month between 3:21 and 4:16 p.m.' -- seriously, I didn't make that one up!

And you can't seriously think that having a wonderful, unqiue water park isn't better to a rotting corpse in full view, which will stay like that until a kid sneaks in and drowns (unless that's already happened and The Mouse has paid the family off!)

Maybe it's the timing of my visits as I know people have reported DLP being filthy ... and my trips have all been in late spring (April, May and June) when crowds were light and the parks were sparkling.

WDW used to be so clean ... now, it is very much hit or miss.

And I am REALLY TIRED of sitting down at a quick serve locale at WDW and the tables are always sticky. That's just plain icky and could even make you sicky ... and no, I don't feel cleanliness is an issue where I'm just being picky.

You know it's really sad that some people can't read what is being said and jumps to conclusions and misstates what others do say.

I never said a word about people saving money to take a trip.

I said that I see more trashy folks (btw, I feel the need to add that I am basing this on watching boorish/antisocial behavior patterns ... not based on anything else like say wearing Texas tees) visiting WDW these days than I have in the past.

    That's an observation. Period.

Interesting that this -- something I readily admit to not knowing the facts -- is the only item you choose to comment on in that post.

I don't know the details of Disney's royalty payment schedule with OLC ... maybe I did at one time, maybe I never did ... I just don't recall hearing that OLC was paying Disney all royalties from 1983-2003 back in 1983 because Disney needed the money.

You may be right, but it sounds very odd to me.

Gays, Pierce - he's talking about gays and how they're tolerated in different parts of the country.

There are some who think that the old school 'World' was overall superior to recent times and I could never agree with that. There are just too many quality additions(or additons that I favor) which easily overshadow the more recent shortcomings and frustrating features:

    Additions I thoroughly welcome:
    Fast Pass
    Typhoon Lagoon
    Blizard Beach
Aventurer's Club(sorry to see it go!)
The Studios(One Man's Dream, ToT, F!, Muppets, Brown Derby, Prime Time Cafe, Sci- Fi diner, Great Movie Ride)
Animal Kingdom(Tree of Life, Kali River, Jungle Trek, Pang. Forest, Everest, Nemo Musical, Zak and Cody restaurant, Kil Safari)
Test Track(loved WoM but I love TT more)
Mission:Space(loved Horizons but I love M:S more also)
Soarin'(yes, I have a problem with its theme but you bet I'll take it over nothing!)
Living Seas Nemo---100x better than the old omnimover ride
    Pooh(I'll take it over Toad)
    H. Mansion redo
    Splash Mnt.
    Boo To You Parade
    Barb + Jack Spar AA's
    MK Christmas Party hard ticket
    AK Lodge
    Wilderness Lodge
The 'free' dining plan and Value resorts while not 'quality' I'm glad they are available since I have been known to tap them also.

Even with the inexcusable modern day WDW features such as..... DVC everywhere, fairly clean instead of super clean parks(generally), fairly polite/helpful instead of super polite/helpful cast(generally), stamped out junk for sale on Main St., character/Pixar infusion into parks, princess/pirate cliches, token bag checks by security, proportionately higher prices, Bear Dung play area and those dreaded buses I still want to go.

Yesterday's WDW with its 2 park lineup and worthless River Country could not get me there if it were offered today.

Totally agree with you on the many great additions that I wouldn't want to do without either (though I'm not getting the hostility towards River Country, it was just a place to swim wasn't it? I never went, but it sounds like it was fine..small and charming and relaxing..what did I miss that makes you hate it so?).

Anyway, maybe it is a size issue. Maybe it really is impossible to staff such an expansive resort with quality personnel in that region.

But I don't get the impression that Disney is trying hard enough to get there like they used to (and still do to a large extent..in Tokyo and Hong Kong).
