Is there a US ban on Vegemite??

ohh sorry....The vegemite, cheese and Butter are all on the inside, nothing on the outside just bread to be toasted plain. Everything melts together on the inside.

My mom would simply put a couple slices of American cheese between two slices of bread -- no butter on the outside -- and press it in the waffle iron with the plates turned over to the flat sides. Her mother would do the same thing, only with sharp cheddar. It wasn't until I was in my early teens that I learned about spreading butter or margarine on the outside of the bread.

I think I want to try your way, though.

Disappointment: I just got back from Cost Plus with the sole purpose of getting some Vegemite, and they didn't have any!
