It sounds like the dining packages get the best of the best view, while the picnics get the equivalent of a fastpass.

No phone orders for the picnics.

The LP article will be up today-- we had a rep at the media event last night. The picnic meals were GOOD. They offered the Taste of Asia (good salmon!) and the European Antipasto (killer selection of cheeses!).

The more I think about it, the more brilliant I think it is. It strikes a balance between full-day attendees that can get the FPs in the morning, and the AP holders that may not want to or be unable to get there until the evening hours. The fact that they will be selling them via the Internet tells me that they are specifically targeting the late-arriving guests, and not just those that want reserved seating at a lower price point than the table service meals. Plus, although it may look like you get reserved seating for $5 more than what an equivalent counter service meal might cost, they're actually getting $15 more out of an AP that would have otherwise come into the park and bought nothing.

Premium viewing for table service dinner customers. FPs for those in the morning. Box lunch and reserved area for those coming later or booking on the Internet. Plenty of viewing area all around the lagoon for everyone else. It reminds me of the old DL ticketing area recording from decades ago: "There are several ways to enjoy this happy place."

SuperDry, the analogy to the old ticket books is an apt one. I think this plan is fantastic, and it favors the tourists and higher-spending hotel guests, rather than the penny-pinching locals on the layaway plan for their AP's.

It all looks brilliant on paper. Let's see how it works in real life. The weak link here seems to be that the Resort's Food & Beverage division has their hands in it. They seem so disorganized and shleppy, with a noticeably different caliber of CM's operating it all, compared to some of the other departments.

Have I mentioned the completely lazy and charmless oafs that were staffing the beer tasting tents at Food & Wine this year? Those restaurant CM's couldn't even fake it, and really put a damper on what should have been a fun and upscale extra-cost event. Let's hope the restaurant group get their act together for their major part in World of Color.

I'm only surprised Al Lutz had zero mention of this option AFAIK in any of his "scoops."

Can the dinners be ordered in advance online for international visitors?

I agree that this is probably the best solution they could have come up with. Nice work.

Unfortunately you have to call to reserve the sit-down dinners. The picnics can be ordered online but not until June 11, and you can't order the same day that you wish to see the show.

Uh, guys, the Electrical Parade is in Florida and your official Blog is directing people to call you for World of Color packages.

This is a perfect example of how disorganized, sloppy and slobby the Disneyland Restaurant Division CM's are. They are going to be the very weakest link in this whole WoC Dining Package concept.

Why doesn't TDA clean up and crack down on that Restaurant organization??? Who is in charge there??? Anyone at all?

The only thing he got right was the show pass which is not set up at all like he said and even has a different name.
