Not me, not Gadz, not I-57. You seem to have this...curiosity...about them. For heaven's sake, go to one and get it out of your system. >>Notice how feisty people get when you say anything about gays but these same people love to hear anti Christian comments? I don't particularly care to see people vilified for their religious beliefs, just as much as I don't like assumptions made about me because of who I am attracted to.

She wanted me to clarify what I meant and stayed with my original post. Gadzuux said: "Your faith is just that - yours. It's not a badge - don't flash it. Do as I say and not as I do?

And here's an instance of an ACLU complaint about Islam, though it doesn't seem to have led to an actual lawsuit: <a href="http://www.becketfund.org/index.php/article/179.html" target="_blank">http://www.becketfund.org/inde x.php/article/179.html</a> "During the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, two public schools in Brooklyn and one in Queens decided to accommodate the religious practices of their many Muslim students. Specifically, Lafayette High School in Bensonhurst excused Muslim students for ten minutes from classes and allowed them to use the cafeteria to pray. When the New York Board of Education received a letter from the New York chapter of the ACLU (NYCLU) questioning the validity of the policy, they immediately admonished Lafayette for its accommodation, saying that no school can set aside space for a particular religion and that no student should be late for class."

Perhaps some of that stems from history, but I do think it's unfair that some people are viewed as being untouchable as far as have any criticism directed at them. /cs

For those who like numbers, check out this 2000 survey of religious affiliation in the U.S. Not sure if it proves anybody's point, but I found it interesting. Originally Posted By cstephens JazzCat wrote: > Do you discriminate or put down Christians and overweight people? Why? So stop using the word "discriminate" when it's not applicable and totally nonsensical and muddies up what otherwise could be an interesting discussion. Do I put down Christians? Not as a general rule. However, I have a hard time understanding or dealing with people who claim to be Christians and are totally hypocritical and preach hate. Do I put down overweight people? Not to their face. Sometimes, I might make a smart remark about a celebrity or a generic person if I'm in particular company where there are no holds barred and we're ripping on anyone and everyone anyway. And yes, I've made fun of myself because of my weight. /cs

Did you know they used to have bible studies in the Capital building in Wash. DC? Would you be OK with that today? And yes, if your a bigger white person who happens to be a Christian and you drive a SUV then you are screwed!
