I've already told you I'm not that type of person. I can't prove it ~ you'll just have to take my word on it. News to me... >>You don't have to accept Christians as a whole, but remember; we *DON'T* have to accept homosexuality either.<< We all have to accept things we don't like every day. The problem is with those who insist on dictating the lives of others. I know of no attempt by any gay people to prevent Christians from marrying. I know of no attempt by gay people to repeal laws that make it a crime to discriminate on the basis of religion. >>Congradulations. You alone, with your "poor little gay boy me" attitude, have given me more reason to side with the right-wing extremists.<< Sounds like you were already there.

Gadzuux gave legitimate examples that show Christians are generally the ones who propagate discrimination, not the other way around. You might think it doesn't apply to you, but it's just a generalization. It doesn't necesscarily apply to everyone.

I'm not saying that YOU endorse these odious viewpoints, only that it comes from christian leadership. It's directly relevant to "your" thread and your initial comment about why people may not like christians. >> I just don't have any respect for people who wander into a topic and use it for their own agenda. Instead of answering my original question, he cried "foul on homosexuality!" and became obstinate. << I didn't "wander in" to the topic, I addressed your original question within the first ten posts - I'm a "contributor". I'm guessing you didn't like my comments, and took personal affront to my pointing out that christians can be known for glaring hypocrisy. >> Grow up and stop thinking it's all about you. << You're the one who's feeling personally attacked here - not me.

I don't think this is a "non-issue" - quite the opposite. I undestand that I may be a bit strident on this topic, but it does go to your original post about why some people "don't accept christians". You're right, there's a segment of the population that are wary of organized religion, and the breathtaking hypocrisy that comes along with it. It's not just some crazy paranoia on my part - these people really are out to get me, and millions of others just like me. It's not unreasonable for me to oppose this. You lamented that christians are an oppressed class, and I wanted to give you my perspective, which is exactly contrary to yours. Next up: it's relatively common for christians to disavow the statements and beliefs of christian leadership. But from fred phelps right on up to the pope himself, we continuously hear the drumbeat of the same message that gays and lesbians are a threat. I don't understand how religious people can reconciile the actions and statements of these 'moral leaders' while still professing allegiance to the church itself. When all is said and done, you find god from within. So the bible tells me so. He's not in a building, and you don't need a ticket or the approval of some self appointed guardians of public decency. >> I do support gay rights. Whether you believe me or not is another matter altogether. << Thank you for that. Really, this isn't about "you". I'm not implying that you share these odious beliefs. But I have a history of posting these kinds of hypocrisies from christian leaders, hoping that reasonable people will come to similar conclusions as me.

[And I quote,] "Christians have made the oppression of gays and lesbians their 'reason for being' a rallying cry. As a result of working tirelessly to reduce the status of one class of americans, you can expect some pushback." So a minority of a few right-wing extremists are trying to make your life miserable. Yes, they are making a bad name for Christians. But why don't you try to make a good name for yourself and accept Christians even though they don't accept you? Or is it a case of "they're mean to me so I'm gonna be mean to them!" All of your posts have shown me (seriously) one thing; you are angry about the treatment of gays. Why not take that energy and use it to educate people? Instead of putting Christians down, why not show them that you have a long-term commitment with someone? Use your power for good Master Gadzuux......... Oh sorry. I've been watching Star Wars.

Have ya ever wondered why Luke would rather thrust sabers with Obi-Wan just one last time than be with his wife while she gives birth? The Jedi's are a gay spiritual cult I tell ya. You better spread the word before everyone who's seen the film catches the gayness. ;-)
