You have no idea what I am like. You only know me as an online poster and you're choosing to read an attitude in to something that does not exist. All knowing? Above all others? Hell, I wish. But, no, I am far from either of those ... far, far, far. Apparently, something in a post hit a nerve and you took it personally for some reason by accusing people here of bragging. I brag about my family and friends and accomplishments, but that's about it ... and I don't generally do so on Disney fan sites.
Originally Posted By Spirit of 74 <<A huge Bimmer fan myself, just never found a Benz to handle like for like>> Funny you say that. I had trouble ... if that's the right word ... getting used to my first C230, but once I did ... I just love the way the cars drive. They feel like all my old American muscle cars did, performance wise, yet are the most comfortable and inviting to just spend time stuck in traffic inside!

FYI - I grew up dirt poor from a family that no one ever went to college from. Grew up in a high crime area of Chicago and made something of myself -- if that disgust you - too bad. I AM a normal person -- not whatever it is you think...people here get told by another poster that people who drive nice cars and take fancy vacations are credit card maxed out the wazoo and living out of their means. Well I know what it's like to not have any means, and also to have some....they is no bragadosia going on from myself or any of the other posters I have seen here, many are regulars here for a long time. You know what turns me off, people who somehow feel offended by posts like have been on here...hey, no matter who you are likely there are people out there who have 100 times more...so what ? Doesn't make a person less of a person, and having been on both sides of that fence -- I can tell you that most people stay the same. If Stephen Jobs comes and posts on here ( and you are welcome Mr Jobs) - am I going to whine because he owns half of the empire? No...good for him,I am happy for him and never will attain what he has...again so what ? Does that make him more of a person than me - no ! And each persons opinion is worth the same amount here.....no one gets more of a vote, so to dis people because you have issues with their status or perceived status is wrong IMHO. But again, it's just my opinion and not worth more than any other here...but of course I am not ripping on people and telling them to post at other sites.

Those are accomplishments, things are not. Things come and go, and none bring you any satisfaction or comfort if you go through a health scare - trust me.

How does that destroy the fabric of anyone else's life? If you want to get this back on topic, by all means, post something and I, for one, will be glad to discuss it. I haven't really slammed Disney management in a while and am ready to take a shot. Otherwise, you're just wasting time that none of us is going to get back at the end.

That isn't being professional, that is being untrue to oneself and everyone else. If any of us drove a 1976 Karman Ghia with no heat, would that have been OK to post since someone else brought up cars ? But you're right, if he had to change who he was in order to post or get ripped for it, then he likely wouldn't come here.

OK as for Disney mgmt setting the bar at less than excellent for some guest experiences...it is unacceptable when the major theme that sets them apart from others is Quality. Quality has always been a Disney hallmark and needs to remain ingrained in the management philosophy....sometimes less is more ( think Pooh Playground here) - btw - Iger just named CEO of the year by Marketwatch.

I would rate DAK Lodge as one of the finest resorts in the country. All-round excellence. GF doesn't do a great deal for me but it is still a 5* gem. The Sugarloaf service especially is exceptional. The issue will also be whether one of the deluxe resorts can be as good as the corporate hotel brands like Conrad, Westin and W. I'm in the Bellevue (WA) Westin this week and my room and the service is phenomenal. They are always there. But it is a different kind of clientele and the hotel is likely to run at 1.1 people per room (even when full) compared to the 2.9/3.1 range that WDW deluxe hotels run at.

The service I get at the Hilton Tokyo Bay when I'm there on business is excellent. Significantly better than either of the OLC-owned Disney hotels. You need to limit the possibility of that happening but ultimately it will and you need to be realistic. Guests at WDW don't tend to pick hotels based on guest service experience. It is price point. Secondary to that might be things like a full-service restaurant, room service and a decent pool/spa. But price point rules at WDW which is why it is such a clever model. Plus I'd bet that a family at Pop Century spend on a daily basis along similar value lines as the equivalent family at GF (or maybe slightly less but ultimately that non-residential spend is not intrinsically linked to room rate). That is the genius of the model.
