yes monthly maintenance fees/tax bill is only out of pocket -- nothing when you arrive etc.

also currently $100 off AP $125 off Deluxe AP --
my first 7 years gave me free parks admission ( used that for 11 trips) -

offers vary at varous times- doubt we'll ever see one as good as the first one though -- I had free park admission for 11 trips 106 days total used for 4 people

    equiv 424 admissions....

my initial investment was easily recouped before 2000

Mickey is counting on that. After a few trips to WDW overpriced stuff back home does start to seem like a normal price. I believe the average person thinks that WDW is very expensive.

Disneyland in California offers us a cheaper price and IMHO a better quality experience (all in inc flights) than WDW despite being 3000 miles further away. DLP is more expensive per night, but overall including travel is cheaper and preferable to going to the MK.

I think for a once in a lifetime, or if you can drive there, it is worth it. Otherwise not IMHO.

FWIW, my Marriott Vacation Club membership is more expensive than DVC to buy into and in maintainence fees(about $140 a month), but the experience is so much better in my mind, and our deeds are good for 75 years.

Hmmm, I would have prefered DL and DCA with resort time instead. You missed the only two parks worth going to Florida for.

For me I made the decision NOT to extend my deed from 2042 to 2055 when offered. I would be 100 at contact end. I decided I could spend the same money - buy more points at a resort that already expires in 55 and I get more use while I can- and my kids still have use also --just not as much. <y oldest will; be 73 in 20055 -- part of the decision

for me and some others I know it was perfect - for others it would not be a wise investment at all.

To make DVC work you have to want to go to WDW a lot. For me, who really wants to go about once every 3 years or so, it really isn't a choice.
And if Disney had focused as much attention on what I use at WDW as they have on DVC I wouldn't be complaining about the parks OR DVC. But now, and for the past several years, if you don't want to tour DVC there has been little new to entice.

I agree. In my opinion DVC only makes sense if you go at least once a year.

For me DVC was an excellent value... good enough that we bought points at Saratoga Springs in addition to our original purchase of Boardwalk points.

agree -- might be able to make every other work if trips were longer ( more points) with banking and at-- every three years the plan is not built for you

During our last trip we stayed in a Downtown Disney Hotel and mostly ate off property. We normally eat one meal on property in a park per day and we did that.... but lets face it WDW is surrounded by descent place to eat. We always drive to WDW so its easy for us to hit a restaurant. And when your staying in DTD its easy to just jump in your car and drive accross the street to literally dozens of eateries.
