Except for Hans of course. Everyday he's mingling with celebrities and they are out eating fancy sushi together.

Yep. Here in the Bay Area the only things I've seen are Summer Nightastic billboards and none of them mention WOC at all.

They did when DCA opened. Not since.

I just used it as an example of (relative) lack of hype, since WOC has gotten more buzz, IMO, than anything DCA has ever added (including TOT), and it MIGHT have warranted a national buy, as Uni has done for HP.

They didn't do it, and others have mentioned WOC not even being mentioned in NoCal (!) - so that's another indication that the buzz seems mostly coming from fans themselves, rather than being Disney hype.

Maybe they dont feel they have to advertise and that the fan base alone will fill WOC to it's capacity?

Because as good as i think it will be I don't think it will pull in the numbers DCA is expecting look at ToT and TSMM. They thought these would be extremaly popular and help pull in guests, both did for a while but the place is still dead by closing.

Between the poor use of grammar and inconsistent capitalization it is actually difficult to read your posts and understand what you're saying.

And I think UNLIKE opening of DCA where they had given this thing ridiculous expectations saying the park will be shut down before noon in the L.A. Times, taking away APs etc which basically caused great embarrasement, they ARENT over reacting in that sense. There arent any articles how this show will bring in people from here to Brazil. They havent bombarded people with advertisements all over the place and saying you may have to get to the park at 7 a.m. dailey to get a FP if you want to catch the show before the next presidential campaign, none of that. Its actually been a pretty quiet campaign ONCE you get away from sites like these. So they arent even doing all that much to BRING the hype besides just usual publicity, which is still low key. They are quietly rolling it out while in the background assuming it can be massive and preparing it that way JUST IN CASE. I like the way they are handling it. This is basically our first real 2.0 attraction and they are doing their best to keep expectations in check.

And Bob is right, dude how long you been here?? Put quotes in either quotes or some kind of brackets and put some space between the quote and your thoughts. I honestly was confused reading your last post before I realized Hans wrote the beginning.

What remains to be seen is how the actual content of the show resonates with audiences. I would definitely prefer a show that is more abstract, such as BraviSEAmo!, over a traditional Disney character-driven show, but characters wouldn't stop me from enjoying World of Color.

For myself, I guess it depends on whether or not World of Color feels like a real, unique show, and not just a rehash of Disney film clips. Fantasmic! strikes a balance between the mist screens and the live performance, but I'm not sure how the new show is going to turn out.

A Braviseamo type show would definitely not work with the SoCal audience. The great thing about WoC is that the show can change over time, scenes can be swapped out, different encores are planned, etc.

Fantasmic is its own show, World of Color will be very different. It needs to be different to add variety to the nighttime lineup at Disneyland. The fireworks at Disneyland are still very popular, and it's nothing more than just fireworks.

I think people are going to be very surprised at what this show is able to do.

btw, here's a new D23 article that was posted today about the show: http://d23.disney.go.com/artic...lor.html

BraviSEAmo! is in its fifth year.

Just before your comment, I was going to add this about B! anyway:

I have been purposefully not watching any of the amateur video of WoC since I want it to be fresh when I see it in person. However, I have seen several of the clips that Disney has released to the public, and there was one of them that had a couple of seconds that reminded me very much of BraviSEAmo!, what with what I can only guess will be very powerful music in person, and a dramatic visual.

That's not to say that the whole WoC show will be abstract like B! is, but I think there's probably room in the show for some abstraction and dramatic music, and not all just Disney/Pixar characters and happy music. A good mix of all of that could make for a great show. I also hope that they've purposefully paced out the various feelings and emotions that they want the audience to feel during the show, much like they do with motion pictures.

I thought it had closed earlier this year. Anyway, Fantasmic turned 18 this year at DL - and now it's on its way to Tokyo.. I think that speaks for itself, the majority of guests want to see character-based shows.

I go more for "story." I love Fantasmic and the Believe Fireworks really touched me. The 50th Anniversary fireworks were very good and in many ways it was a better show that Believe, but I was more touched by believe.

The WoC has a lot going for it, at least with my generation. My first reaction was that it was a great idea to do a non-fireworks show (considering the smoke problems with the previous attempt at big show at DCA). Hopefully the show lives up to the promise.
