As far as how my last post came across...it was supposed to be sort of a sarcastic rant if you will. I don't really think the show will be off if Taylor wins and I don't think any of the other contestants are horrible. I'm just ticked off that Chris is off already...

From the first episodes, where they pick the people to go to Hollywood, even I thought Taylor was going to be the winner. He's got a unique look (with the grey hair), a decent voice and pleasant demeanor. I'd be very supprised if he didn't win. (Take it with a grain of salt, I watch Mythbusters on Wednesday.)
Originally Posted By Kar2oonMan >>BUT, does he deserve to win?<< I think so. The fact is that very few real world performers can do it all well, and really, they don't need to. Most singers have a certain range of styles they do, maybe throw in a nvelty song on a CD once in awhile, but other than that, stick to their genere. I know that American Idol is going for that, but I can't think of very many singers that can do rock, country, showtunes, pop, Stevie Wonder songs, Queen songs and hit it every time. Of course, I think really the only one of the three judges that truly tries to give useful, constructive criticism more often than not is Simon. Yes, he's snippy at times, and at times he gets bored with the whole thing it seems. But you'll also notice that it's his approval that most of the contestants, and the audience, care about. When he gives a positive review, the audience explodes, the singers are visibly relieved and grateful.

Let's see what he does this week with three numbers-- one he chooses, one the judges choose, and one from a talented producer (Clive Davis). As far as how Katherine survived to sing again-- RoadTrip and I both noted something she has that none of the fellas can touch. Like it or not, there are a LOT of people out there who like the eye candy. It's just the nature of the beast...

Again, Taylor is cute and fun and is a 28 year old guy that looks like my dad...he has a great voice too, I just question how marketable he is. He's a novelty now which is why everyone is like, oh, Taylor is cool, I hope he wins blah blah blah..but what about when he actually ends up on the radio??? Bo Bice was AWESOME on Idol, it was a sin that he didn't win, did you hear his new song on the radio? I don't love it. JMO

I like him IN SPITE of those things because of a great voice, a unique style and an obvious love of singing. I think all of those would come across just fine on the radio.

Although he got better as the show went on (ala' Elliot), the first time I saw him I was surprised he wasn't grinnin' and pickin' in 'Deliverance'.

Same with Elliot. Same with Katharine.

Oh, and Taylor's solo CD is the FIRST American-Idol-related thing I have ever spent money on, though I've watched every episode of every season religiously and voted virtually every week (did miss one week this season). Taylor is GREAT, y'all - he's an amazing talent, and whenever he puts out his next CD, I'll be buying that, too - even if it's cheesy songs written for American Idol - you KNOW Taylor will nail it and make it great!
