How is potential ride space lost? The building is still there. It could still be turned into ride space in the future. Now, I agree it's unlikely that'll happen, but the potential still exists, right?

I'm sure it's all but done and they'll rip everything out. I just wish they'd put a subfloor over the tracks so you could eventually bring back another dark ride for less money. Or they could just redress the ride with something more "new" like they did with Monsters in SSL?

Most depressing ride make-over ever, other than the World of Motion to Test Track transition. I was actually really depressed the first time I went through what was once Journey into Imagination, and couldn't believe how they had taken a once amazing ride and turned it into utter crap.

The fact that they still haven't fixed that pavilion just amazes me.

I agree. JIYI 1.0 was horrid. I got off of that wondering why my favorite ride was dead at age 9.

...And that feeling only compounded itself when I turned the corner out of Innoventions and saw Horizons shuttered.

All in one trip. Good thing RoE and ToN was playing the same trip...

I have to admit that... It's a fun ride. I still go on it every trip.

But compared to the original? Doesn't stand a chance. But they listened, put Figgy back, so I have to be grateful for that.

The most it had was a few leaks. Like any HUGE EPCOT pavilion.

But the Sinkhole story? Bull. It needed a refurb right when GE pulled out, and right when Eisner didn't want to spend the money and also wanted a Space Pavilion.

The fact that a Space Pavilion was planned for the structure tells us that there wasn't a sinkhole... That's Fanboi invention.

But along came Compaq... and wanted a whole new building for Mission: SPACE.

BTW.... there are sinkholes in WDW. One under UoE, one under Odyssey (the lake) and the one under WS Lagoon.

Stop comparing it to the original, and it's no worse, or no better than any other C Ticket.

I felt that way to when I first rode it, but upon further reflection, I decided that it still isn't a very good ride. Sure, it's better than JIYI 1.0, but still crappy. If you actually look around, most of the attraction is just dark, empty space with nothing to look at. The most successful dark rides fill all the space around you with props to draw the eye - so that on each ride you notice something different. With the current version of Journey, they pretty much kept the old version, added a few Figment animatronics and called it a day. Only the song makes it feel "fun" - and that's only because it reminds me of the old version.

WDI really needs to get back to the basics of what makes an E-ticket ride-through attraction "great", and apply those to a new version of Journey into Imagination at EPCOT. Oh, and for God's sake, re-open the upstairs Image Works please with new effects, and restore the downstairs area to the ride!!

I don't disagree with any of this. You are 100% spot on.

But as a Figment fan, it was WONDERFUL to get him back. That said a lot.

Nothing "wrong" with that. Some of us would rather see SWSA left in place AND the new mine ride.

    That's all.
