I think we all know that Miceage likes to raise the bar, they get wind of a minor change in an attraction, and they add on other stuff that won't happen so that when their readers do go on the ride, they're disappointed with Disney, as far as I can tell.

Or if there are some tricks being played further up the pipeline, i.e. someone more closely associate with a project telling a friend false information, which then gets disseminated. Given Disney's confidentially clauses, it seems like it would be a good way to sniff out a leaker

If you have seen the report about the Little Mermaid enhancements here, they are based on actual observation rather than speculation. When Alice reopens, you can look here and see what has actually been done. Meanwhile, it is fun to speculate.
