An excellent example of how "spreading the wealth" can sometimes be of great benefit to society when applied appropriately.

Not saying there isn't anything wrong with the system, obviously it is subject to abuse (I have a cousin who, well..I'll not go there....but even she picked herself back up and got going after a long while), BUT it's certainly a necessary part of any society to have some charitable systems in place for the destitute.

I'm betting Douglas would prefer to go with the "are there no workhouses? are there no prisons?" approach.

Just wondering because it seems some of the Fox anchors have been on the attack against the ultra-conservative of late.

Colmes is the token liberal counter point to Sean (Certifiably Sociopathic) Hannity on the Fox show Hannity and Colmes.

No, I'm going through all this to make a point. If we can agree that it's neither clever or funny to distort people's comments and call them names, can we stop doing it?

Also, are you really okay with government agents going through someone's personal life and releasing it to the press just because he dared to express an opinion on tax policy?

And are you really okay with berating a guy personally for expressing an opinion? Wouldn't it be much more civil to point out why you disagree with Joe's opinion on taxes, rather than call him a loser?

Well, you're obviously superior to me in intelligence and morals. How about you start setting a standard, and I'll promise to follow?

I hope so. In the unlikely event you ever distort someone else's comment, I'll have this page bookmarked to remind you of your suggestion.

<<< Also, are you really okay with government agents going through someone's personal life and releasing it to the press just because he dared to express an opinion on tax policy? >>>

No, it's not okay. It kind of reminds me of the Valerie Plame incident, although in this case it a) didn't ruin someone's career, and b) didn't damage national security.

I agree on the name-calling. The point about Joe the Plumber seemingly being all over the board, and being a hypocrite in several ways as has been pointed out in this thread, can quite easily be made without calling him names.

Thanks! I didn't think it was "obvious" but thanks for admitting it to everyone. Glad we got that cleared up. LOL

However, why don't you follow your own stated standards? Why do I need to make them for you? I thought you believed in personal responsibility?

You've got to be kidding. THIS from a guy who sees personal attack when he looks in a mirror?

    "No, I've never done that."

Since you're the New Doug, maybe that was the Old Doug. But you have done it.

Aren't these questions for Dick Cheney?

He somehow seems to think that everyone who receives more money under Obama is receiving a handout without paying any money into the system but when he got his own goverment handout, he was just receiving the money he paid into the system. That takes a special brand of hypocrisy and he deserves to be called out for it.

Okay. Everybody read posts 1-3, and see who distorted who's comments. Early in the thread, too, so no mistaking who did it first.
