But KEEP the Skippers spiel and DO NOT go to something recorded. Yes, some skippers are good and some really suck. And that is part of the charm of the ride. It is a Disney experience that is NOT exactly the same every time through. I would hate to lose that.
ChiMike... when did you show up again???

Sorry. That's what I get for being lazy w/ my writing. I was referring to the rumor of Living w/ the Land at Epcot going to prerecorded - not Storybook Land.

My last couple of trips have been during off-season so it was always pretty much a walk-on. I don't think I would wait for more than 10 mins. for it. At one point it was my favorite attraction, so out of habit I need to hit it at least once. It's hard seeing how far from excellent it has fallen, much more than DL's JC.

The worst is when you see that your skipper will be a dud before loading. That is the worst, and at that point it's really too late to do anything about it but grin and bear it.

"it would be good if they came up with several different spiels with different jokes. This way, the skippers could choose which ones they wanted to use on a given day...or they could rotate through them depending on their schedule. It would make for less boredom (at least in my opinion)."

I knew someone who had been a skipper, and he let me borrow the manual for the ride, and the sad thing is, there are three or four spiels for each scene. As the scenes go, they can chose what they like from each speil, and add a little of their own, to make it totally unique. When Indiana Jones opened in DL, they touted that there were over 160,000 ride combinations. I don't know what the number would be, but I would bet that, just sticking strictly to the script, there would be well over 200 different ways to go through the jungle. It may not sound like a lot, but how many times have you been on it in your life?

I've been to Disneyland about 6 times, and WDW twice. That's spread pretty evenly over a period of 43 years, so on average a day or two every 5 years. And I can tell you that I hear virtually the same spiel every single time (OK, I can't really remember back in 1963). There may be very minor variations, but they don't seem to amount to much.

And I can tell you that the last 2 - 3 times, absolutely NO ONE laughed at any of the jokes. This last time was just embarrassing and I felt sorry for the cast member (although she was pretty bad).

When I go on the Jungle Cruise I respond... I laugh at some of the jokes, groan at some of the others, but generally do what I can to have fun. I've noticed that when I do this the other people start doing it too and the ride is much more fun.

Some if it could use a little upgrading, maybe it would get more repeat guests.

Just to repeat my earlier post here... I agree with you... it's what you make of it... It also is a time to relax and get off of your feet for awhile... I would guess it's one of the longer rides at Disney...

Now it seldom happens.

For the Jungle Cruise it's also an issue that as each year goes by you have a larger and larger proportion of riders who have already heard and seen the attraction. On Peter Pan, it's not a big deal - people don't need to engage. Jungle Cruise is just that special circumstance.

Quiet?!?!? I disagree. Too many rednecks using 4-letter words in full blast volume when addressing their unruly brats.

I know a lot of people picture rednecks when they hear of people yelling, but I have to tell you I saw what many would consider a thin, WASP, well-to-do Mom at Japan start screaming at the poor hostess because she had been waiting 30 minutes for her Sat. Night P.S. During free dining no less. She had a party of 9 too, 3 of them kids.

In the no-standing room waiting area about 4 people barked right back at her that their P.S. times were earlier than hers and they had smaller parties.

They all were yelling, most of them standing right next to each other. I didn't think I was in Epcot anymore, I thought I was at a kids sports event with competitive parents.

It was obvious to me that she had never dined in Japan before. That the free dining was one of the motivations and she simply couldn't understand why her party of 9 on a Saturday night was kept waiting. I mean she was on the dining plan! She still had no excuse for her behavior.

Well that seems to be the trend in the world today... peoples expectations are so much higher... and they are so much more demanding.. it's like thrill me, excite me , scare me, please me as fast as you can so I can move on to something else as fast as I can... you know that old saying.. you have to stop to smell the roses... the world of technology has hurt everyone... you can't go anywhere anymore without bringing your work with you or talking to friends back home while your on vacation... leave the cell phone in your room and portable game boy too... slow down and enjoy... lifes to short...
