    That is correct.

I bought one of those passholders when I went to TDL for the park's 10th anniversary. I still have that day's ticket in it; I used to wear it pinned to the back of my hat as a conversation piece when I would visit DL and WDW.

WDW tried to introduce them some time ago and failed miserably because the ones they sold were crap and guests didn't get into them. American guests can be so boring sometimes... yet everytime I show up at WDW wearing something from TDR..be it a passholder strap, a mini plush, or a light up toy for the evening, I am stopped by every other guest or CM asking where I got such items!!! Go figure!

Think of it being similar to a Disney nametag, but with a clear plastic sleeve underneath to put your passport in and have visible. They were different in function than what are needed today by guests: except for the few months that Nezumi mentioned, the "need to display unlimited daily passport to ride" and the FP era were separate. The function of the old pass holders was so that the pass was visible to the CM at the ticket collection point for each attraction. That is, once you put in the passport and pinned it on, you didn't need to mess with it for the rest of the day.

Today, the passholder strap has a different function: It makes the passport readily available to take out and insert into FP machines, as well as provide a place to keep the FP's between when you get them and when you use them. That's why an around-the-neck arrangement now works best, as you have to fiddle with it several times through the course of your day.

Back then, the tickets weren't little credit card sized pieces, but big honkin' strips o' paper, so no, they weren't the same. The clear pocket to hold the ticket was a about a couple inches wide and maybe six inches tall. They weren't on lanyards either; all the ones I recall (and what I have) had a big plastic piece on top (of assorted TDL charater designs) with a safety pin on the back and the clear pocket attached to the bottom edge.

Beware... Superdry is from Texas, and you know Texans have that way of talking that could convince you to put a gun to your head and pull the trigger... reason why we still have two and a half more years of suffering in this country.

Hey pardner, no political talk at the chuckwagon - move 'em out over to WE.

I did happen upon a good ole neighborhood country Texas bar in Nishi-Funabashi once (maybe 10 miles from TDR) and walked in as if I owned the place. That place was top to bottom Western stuff. I showed the barkeep my Texas drivers license, and he said my picture looked like it belonged on a "Wanted" poster.

LOL, pretty much everything in HKDL can "be found elsewhere", but apparently it isn't an issue there like it is at TDS, a park full of original attractions and shows, now is it? ;)

Convenient and easy critisism to make, til you start comparing it to OTHER parks built since 1955.

With the obvious exception of EPCOT (and MAYBE Universal Studios Hollywood, which was a "new" concept in its own right for a theme park that has been much copied by now)...NO park has offered "all new" rides and attractions never before seen.

In fact, too many parks have offered half hearted clones and half-baked concepts lately, if you ask me.

The attraction roster, though all new in story or theme (except Indy) didn’t present apparent advances in the ride systems (though I’m sure there were). I think the reason why an attraction like Soarin gets so much positive press is that it does feel like a new system. TDS does have a best of whats out there feel, but nothing that really makes it a ‘next generation’ park.
