I mentioned no one, it was just a general comment. There's no "why" behind it. You decided to take up the cause. I "chided" you? Expressly? Where? As for his background, I made no mention of your "reading ability". You did. Seems to me his career has been roughly split between sports and general news, but again, I don't see the relevance. He's entitled to have an opinion, whatever it is. Moreover, my first post in this thread, number 3, reads in its entirety: "Olbermann many times can be a long winded pompous windbag, and while he didn't exactly escape that description here, he nonetheless didn't go far enough." So I call him a pompous windbag, hardly a ringing endorsement of the guy, while nonetheless saying he didn't go far enough. I didn't specify which area, but it doesn't matter at this point. Again, all I did was post his bio.

I mentioned no one, it was just a general comment.<< As was my response. ("I don't watch any sportcasts. Other than that and MSNBC, Olbermann hasn't worked that many places.") Which apparently prompted you to "correct" me with information I already knew ("RKO Radio, CNN, WCVB Boston, KTLA and KCBS in LA, ESPN TV and Radio, MSNBC, FOX TV (both news and sports), ABC Radio, KFWB Radio in LA...") >>I "chided" you? Expressly? Where?<< By giving a list of media outlets, despite the fact that they were readily available at the link. By stating, not once, but twice, "No need to continue to bash him on my account..." By continuing to pursue this. (P.S. I will not deny that I am chiding you specifically.) >>Seems to me his career has been roughly split between sports and general news, but again, I don't see the relevance.<< Seems to me his career has largely been in sports, until this stint at MSNBC. The relevance, as I said before, is that my saying I never watch sportscasts explains why I find him unfamiliar. (As opposed to the original assertion that, "...you have to figure some people just couldn't place him or they don't keep up with as many news sources as they profess.") >>He's entitled to have an opinion, whatever it is.<< Yes, he is. Just as I am entitled to say his opinion (in the commentary in question) is fatuous and his conclusions absurd. >>So I call him a pompous windbag, hardly a ringing endorsement of the guy...<< Now it's my turn to say I hardly see the relevance. >>Again, all I did was post his bio.<< Would that had been the end of the matter.

When people are threatened and pushed around by thugs in the white house, they have to understand this is war. I have watched cable 3 times this last year. There is no news. All the channels are grouped together, so you understand quickly you are being censored. Fox, pure lies. They were caught in mid sentence. Channel changed i tried msnbc, i read the scroll but the guy was just like katie couric telling nothing, just acting like they are saying something. Again all stations lie and are not discussing the impeachment of the known traitor, george bush. The fact he is not president is known to the world. Chavez has easily earned his 120 country support, and will probably help pick the second seat at the United Nations. Wishy washy traitors, like the known criminal, george bush, say sicking things like flip floping continually because of their republican sickness, their republican hatred of everything better than them, which is everything in the universe. The criminal, george bush, says, "I Love the United Nations, I Hate the United Nations, The United Nations is important, The United Nations is meaningless. He says anything, but only when it helps him. He doesn't care about the welfare of the american people, or anyone. He only cares about himself, and not even his kin that much, just the selfish people around him in his satanistic cult. The funny thing is, george bush actually is a satanist, he started practicing back in college. The known sick criminal, karl rove, went to iraq prisons and abu, to watch torture, while he was also naked. Cheney at least never did that. He had sex with the ambasador to lichtenstein, while shooting at new york times reporters on that huge duck hunting estate, which also has a nuclear bomb shelter on it, by the way. I wonder what value system cheney actuallly has, besides his fears?

Olberman was GREAT on Sportcenter during his ESPN years. It was a stupid move to leave because he took over half the people who liked him as a sports guy and turned them against him as a far left liberal conspiracy guy.

I can't blame you, real life is so much more exciting, when you get to it. But still, a hypothetical question, winifrey or olberman, two channels, waiting in a doctor's office, no one else to know or bother you. Which would you choose? Just curious, that's all, i already know the option of not choosing, which is what i would do, not watch tv at all.

Originally Posted By jonvn "Bored with tivo eh?" Nope. Actually, that's just about the only way I watch anything anymore. I skip through commercials for one thing. TIVO is the only way to watch TV. It also has an RSS feed reader in it, and so I read a lot of news off my TV from that. Pretty handy little device, that TIVO. "just look at his ratings, or lack of them" His ratings are likely more a reflection of the poor showing MSNBC does in general than in anything involving him or his show inparticular. Be that as it may, he probably is watched by millions of people. My question is more along the lines of why does anyone care what this guy, or any of these guys have to say? They're not any better or informed than anyone else, and they have no special qualifications to make judgements or pronouncements about anything. This guy, O'Reilly, all of them.

Olberman doesn't get any ratings and neither does Air America radio because what these people are saying is so lame and absurd. Far left opinions are always rejected by normal Americans and so are their little shows that come in dead last.
Originally Posted By jonvn "I could survive easily with 10 if they let me pick the 10 channels out of 200." Yeah, I could easily get by without the tennis channel, for instance. I have DISH too. I got it for all the HD channels they offer. I simply don't have time, even I wanted to, to watch much TV anyway. "i would watch olbermann first, and probably not oprah ever." I've never watched either, really. I don't know much about Olberman other than he was on channel 2 as the sports guy. Or was it channel 5? Whatever.
