Almost every martial arts school has a "little ninjas" or "playful pandas" class for smaller kids. For the most part these are play classes. I'm not saying that these classes aren't useful, as they do focus on motor skill development, but these kids do not learn how to fight (but they do look cool in their martial arts garb).

Final soap box remark: if you are interested in your kids learning to defend themselves, I would suggest a grappling martial art (like Judo or JiuJitsu). I'm not a Judoka, but I will freely admit that punching and kicking arts like Karate or Taekwondo are less effective for self defense than Judo.

Oh, that's easy. Just give the little tykes a big sharp, serrated knife. Or a gun. Guns are probably better.

Anyway, the point I was trying to make is that an 8 year old will be hard pressed to fend off a 12 year old bully, even with an attempted kick to the crotch.

I just had a vion of a DLR where everyone is packing heat. It would probably have an effect on line jumping.

This is the first time I have gone being the only adult in the group, but I have always felt safe at Disneyland. Monday night at around 10:00 I sat next to the carosel on the cement wall with my daughter sitting next to me and her friend standing in front of us. We were discussing what ride to ride next and two men in their twenties came. One sat next to me very closely and the other stood in front of him. I looked at him like did he ever hear of "personal space" because I felt uncomfortable. He then turned and sat sidways facing me. I was thinking that maybe he was trying to get into my backpack.(It is not a big one; purse size and hard to get into) I jumped up and grabbed the girls and started walking away very fast.

I could not be sure he was trying to get into my backpack, I did not see him actully try it and I was not going to sit around for him to do it. I did not warn a CM or Security because I was not sure. Looking back maybe I should have. I just wanted to get away quick.

Good choice. Had he followed you I would have suggested making a scene. That last thing they want is to be noticed by a lot of people.

I suggest being alert and careful. Also teach your children not to brandish, not to show their money in the open.

When buying things, the bills should be in order in the wallet, from smallest denomination to largest. The child should be taught how to pull out only the money they will need in private, before then going to a store and buying something.

That way an attacker seeing the change might be satisfied with the leftovers, and leave your child alone quickly.

Not that i have any kids, but that just seems to make sense to me.

I have always been under the impression that kids are shark repellent for those kind of guys.

Oh no way! Are you kidding.

That is is the best way to pick up chicks. See we know that the ladies out there adore their little ones so we can act friendly to the children and the moms eat it up. If played off well it works for landing cool ladies.

    That was definitely my impression.

Disneyland is a great place to meet women. I'm one of the shyest guys on the planet when it comes to meeting women and asking them out on dates, but even I've managed to make a couple of dates there. One of them went really well, too, but alas, before anything could blossom she moved back to North Carolina.

Interesting. I would have figured that kids would get in the way.

I guess I'm a little old fashioned. I always thought that small talk was the way to break the ice, as opposed to being creepy (i.e. invading someone's personal space).

I can look and smile and appreciate the women, and they smile back, without having to go to work, and build a family, or relationship for the future.

Sometimes, i walk and make eye contact and smile, nod, talk, and sometimes wave, with quite a few women in a very brief period of time.

Sometimes i don't. Sometime's i just like to walk, and watch people.

Women aren't dumb, like you wish they were. They know, i just want them to know, i appreciate all the trouble they have spent and time used to make themselves look so pretty.

The hottest mamas on the planet go to the Disney parks. I've picked up 2 in Florida and 3 at Disneyland(1 of those 3 was at DCA in line at the Tower of Terror). The key like I said is to make friends with their young. One time I bought a woman's son a Jack Skellington t shirt. I noticed she was watching how I was interacting with her son and after rapping with the lady for a good half hour I bought it to try and impress her. You know what, it worked not only did the 3 of us get dinner(she paid!)over there by Splash Mnt. but 2 nights later..... well I let you guess.

The best ladies to find are the ones who look like newly divorced RN's or office managers.
