How on earth did they get away with this stuff?

"Always clowning around, these frolicsome pets swim, stunt and play games with each other. Because they are so full of tricks, you'll never tire of watching them."

They weren't frolicsome. The twitched around in the water like some disease spores. They looked nothing like the illustration.

"Best of all, we even teach you how to obey your commands like a pack of trained seals. What a way to surprise your guests."

Whoever wrote that should be shot. Millions of us little saps imagined our own little Sea World, with all the neighbors coming over to see our amazing Sea Monkey shows paying our way through college, or at least financing a nifty pair of X-ray Specs.

Another rip-off in my past was this crappy board game called "Cat and Mouse" (I can't find IT online either - probably because it was a piece of garbage) ... You'd roll the dice and move the pieces as directed... And eventually get to a dead-end. The game couldn't be won OR lost. It just... stopped. Stupid thing.

Spill the Beans and Hands Down were WAY better! :)

I think so because we fed only live brine shrimp to one of our fishies and made jokes about the Sea Monkeys as they frolicked and played right into the fishy-mouth.

    >> Sea-Monkeys® are a true miracle of nature. They exist in suspended animation inside their tiny eggs for many years. The instant-life crystals, in which the eggs are enclosed, preserve their viability and help to extend still further their un-hatched life span! Sea-Monkeys are real Time-Travelers asleep in biological time capsules for their strange journey into the future!
The joy of watching Sea-Monkeys grow offers a lot more than just pure fun. It is one of the outstanding educational experiences of a lifetime, because the entire life-cycle of these unique creatures are fully recreated. Conceived in 1960 as a biological novelty, the “fantasy†has transformed into brilliant reality.<<

    A brilliant reality? Grrrr.....

    >>Sea-Monkeys® are in no way harmful to humans or the environment. If they somehow find their way into natural water ways or sewer lines, they simply will not be able to survive outside of the formula.<<

Yeah, that's the same thing they said in Jurassic Park. BEWARE: THE SEA MONKEYS ARE AMONG US!!!

The tweener's site that velo posted had a link to a couple of the flavors of Funny Face soft drink mixes. I remember that I had these small rubber cups in the shapes of the 'mascots' for each of the flavors...Rootin' Tootin Raspberry, Jolly Olly Orange, Goofy Grape, Loud Mouth Punch. I'm not sure it they were something Mom bought in the store (that I just HAD to have) or something that was mail ordered. Did anyone else have those?

I didn't get to drink traditional soda very often, it was just usually just Kool-Aid or Funny Face.

It was a device you had to clamp to the top of the table, then it had two pendulms that hung below it while attached to two arms holding pens on the table. You put your paper under the arms then set the pendulums in motion. It produced pictures that looked like this <a href="http://mathworld.wolfram.com/Harmonograph.html" target="_blank">http://mathworld.wolfram.com/H

<Sorry (I'm sure TDG knows that one..), Aggravation (loved that!)>

Never had Sorry (though if you meant the "Family" sketch of it, heh, yeah---classic!), but we did love Aggravation.

I also liked the gum ones. You could 'blow smoke' through them. That was only good for a one time shot per cig, though...
