Kroger/Ralphs looking to buy Albertsons for Sav-On

    In the same small city, we had a Safeway and Vons across a small side street from each other. That Safeway is still there as a Pavilions.

    Of course, this was in South Pasadena, the former company home of Trader Joe's, a place I love. The city also has a Bristol Farms. Pavilions started as kind of an attempt at reaching up to the Bristol Farms level.

    Southern California's major supermarket chains (catering to customers whose primary language isn't Spanish, anyway), are Ralphs, Vons, Alberstons, and Stater Brothers. I'd hate to see Ralphs buy Albertsons.

    Maybe AT&T/SBC can buy Albertsons. ;-)
