According to someone at WDWMagic.com, it was said that Toontown was not what the article referred to as a "favorite feature" of the park. They said that things could change, obviously, but that right now, Star Wars as Toontown replacement is still pretty likely.

How many times do PeterPan1313 and I have to constantly re-hammer this point into your thick skull?! Plus, Toontown IS a favorite feature in the park. Please come back, PeterPan1313....

In fact, neither Miceage (especially lately), WDWMagic, nor PP13 (or his sock puppet) have proven reliable. And some of it is just laughably off the mark.
Originally Posted By Disneylandfan85 >>In fact, neither Miceage (especially lately), WDWMagic, nor PP13 (or his sock puppet) have proven reliable.<< I have no idea how reliable Screamscape or even the LA Times are, but the article from that about Star Wars and Tom Staggs has been referenced on Screamscape: "Tom Staggs, did seem to confirm that Star Wars attractions were still in the works for Disneyland however, and that they would be added to the park in a new area, and not as a replacement attraction where some other beloved attraction would have to be removed. This seems to confirm the rumors that management had decided not to add more Star Wars attractions to Tomorrowland, but instead create an all new land for them elsewhere in the park. Such an expansion could display some of the backstage area behind Toontown, or certain facilities which might need to be moves elsewhere." As I said countless times before, I really want to see Toontown saved, which may or may not be the case if this article is to be believed. On the other hand, however, though the article did mention likely needing to relocate backstage behind Toontown and/or elsewhere, they did not take into account the issue of working around the fireworks. Some have speculated that the Star Wars area could be completely enclosed to remain open while the fireworks are on, and while doable, it doesn't seem likely. Also, as I just said before, the article mentioned moving backstage area behind Toontown, but I would think that it would be difficult, if not impossible, to do any kind of expansion back there without affecting Toontown. It also brings up the question of what this means for Innoventions.

So it's as reliable as the rumors it gets from other places. Which is to say - all over the map. The LA Times is just repeating what Skaggs said, which as I pointed out before, was about as vague as it could possibly be. Everyone else is reading into what it "seems" to mean, which is a fool's errand.
