    On the subject of a land in Disneyland - I hope this does not get people on the band wagon .. and think - "Oh, I heard a rumor...."

    Because it's too difficult to create a land, that has absolutely no connection, or look similar to the 1939 MGM film .. because if it does, Warner Bros. (who own the film) will sue Disney so fast, they won't know what hit them.

    Says who? I'm guessing that the look of movie will be different than the 1939 MGM version.

    They showed some concept art for the movie at the last D23 Expo in 2011, at which time the movie had just started shooting in Michigan. I thought the art was very beautiful and impressive. Nothing like the revered MGM film.

    Superficially they look about the same, but then one starts to notice how very different the hair and makeup are. Even the clothes are cut differently.

    That said, I am inclined to believe that unless a truly captivating and imaginative treatment is found, audiences will still flash automatically to this when they think "Wizard of Oz."

    Return to OZ didn't have the "look" of the classic so yes it can and has been done already.

    All they have to do is go to Baum's books for inspiration. I always thought that the Wizard of Oz was a brilliant film, but the wondeorus vision created in the books makes WofO look like an elaborate vaudaville stage play.
