Exactly the island was "destroyed" or sunk after the explosion. Causing everything after that point to not happen.

Jacob needs to come back from the dead to battle the smoke monster. What better body to haunt than that of a trained torturer? That's what I got out of the whole thing, anyway.

The whole idea annoys me because we also watch Supernatural. On that show, Lucifer wants Sam's body, the archangel Michael wants Deans body, and to complicate things Lucifer is played by the guy who plays Jacob on Lost. It feels like someone is ripping off someone. Supernatural is "farther along" so it feels like Lost is the one ripping off another show.

There is no original idea anymore. This sort of thing has happened before in many different shows/books/etc.

Also, is ash keeping away the MIB something we already knew about, or is that something we learned early on in last night's episode when we saw the monster in smoke form?

Also, I about cried when MIB/Locke was telling Ben what Locke's last thought was. :( :( :(

That is what the man said. We have no idea what is actually on the letter.

I think it may have been a checklist of "Good" people. Since they started asking names and panning back and forth from the Japanese guy going down the letter to the Group.

Well then there's that whole Biblical thing too.

Not quite. I think the Smoke Monster just looks like Locke. Locke's body is lying on the beach by the statue.
