Has the plan always been to keep DAK open from 9-5? At any point during the design process did the Imagineers think about the disadvantages to having a park that is closed every night? It almost seems like Disney designed DAK to be a half-day park, which has been a common complaint about MGM over the years. I realize there are attractions that were planned for DAK that were never built, but did Disney ever privately discuss the park as a more "limited" experience than what's available at the other 3 parks since it seems they always expected it to have reduced operating hours?

And why is there a stroller on a bus after midnight?

How dare you try to inject rationality into a totally well thought-out discussion about why Disney is so evil and stupid? Between you and leemac, next thing you know there might be real intelligent discourse on these threads. And that would TOTALLY get in the way of our ranting that Disney is evil and stupid!

That doesn't make me right or wrong, it just makes me , well me. I love to go to Irish bars- and do so all the time at home, but the kids are not with me. I like comedy clubs and drinks with umbrella's in them at times- but again I separate that as much as possible from WDW. <<<<

Yeah, but if kept up to Disney quality, and level of showmanship, the adult things should be (mostly) acceptable to kids, too.

Not at all. Punish the dumbasses. (AKA, throw the noisy drunks out of EPCOT, please. The other drunks are fine. LOL )

    How so not shocking.

A park that began life with normal operating hours of 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. nightly is now 9-5 or 9-6 over 90% of the year.

    Amazing.

No one gets to see how beautiful this park is after dark now.

As to cost, I'd just laugh that off ... I'm sure they'll make up any 'alleged' losses by the addition of the new tours/experiences from the boutique animal park idea.

This is just typical business as usual from TDO.

I am sure when Jason Garcia talks to the PR hacks at Disney they'll spin this as being for the good of the animals.

I know - sometimes the fact that they are a corporation and do HAVE to watch some things in a dollar and cents profitability sense does seem to get lost. It shouldn't be the only factor in decisions but to think it isn't A factor is naive.

No one is going to pay a large staff to work wen there are but a few ( relatively ) customers on hand.

I know a few people who owned restaurants before the recession- that either cut back hours or sadly were forced to close because they weren't making a large enough profit to pay the staff after certain times. People sharing entree's- not coming as often - etc...

Now that said I don't know if that was the reason for AKL cutting back- which is why I asked the question. I thought someone like Lee might have some stats on that...

if that was a reason, for all those who advocate not going to WDW to 'force' them to add things etc.-- take note- adding may not be the answer the equation comes up to
