He's the God of the Sea. He ushers you into the POTC universe, and with him, you get to see all the antics of Jack.

    Makes total sense.

Before, you were just in a cave, seeing that the WDW version is shorter.

When - Back when they did the major makeover adding the Johnny Depp AA's. They removed the talking skull, and the parrot barker out front.

Why - Because they are a bunch of demon worshipping heathens.

Are you asking me if I know he was in one of the 4 movies, yes I saw it, and hated him.

Blackbeard is real, he is history, he is Disney.

No...he was in 2 of the four movies. Not 1.

<<Blackbeard is real, he is history, he is Disney.>>

Ummm...Davy Jones is history as well. He was a superstition as the devil or a sea demon.

"This same Davy Jones, according to sailors, is the fiend that presides over all the evil spirits of the deep, and is often seen in various shapes, perching among the rigging on the eve of hurricanes:, ship-wrecks, and other disasters to which sea-faring life is exposed, warning the devoted wretch of death and woe."

Your right sorry, he did have a small part in the 3rd movie.

Yes he is history but not real.

I know the story of davy jones, and it's an interesting one but hate how they made him look, it was a joke to me, he ruined the movies and the films I feel.

Thanks, and never mind me - I posted this thinking it was Disneyland! That'll teach me to read combined sections. Being the WDW version, I'm not as concerned (I'm not as attached to their POTC) and can breathe now.

BTW, I thought Davy Jones was amazing in the films. Great character and truly amazing special effects. Dead Man's Chest certainly deserved its Oscar for Best Special Visual Effects that year. However, I don't necessarily feel he belongs in the ride. I'd rather have the talking skull!

And this was back in WDW's "good old days" when they cut the budget for this ride. Of course, it was never originally planned for the park (too close to the real Caribbean, supposedly). Not to mention the long planned Western River Expedition that was supposed to be WDW's answer to Pirates, but never came to be.

I remember reading once that Marc Davis actually LIKED the WDW Pirates better because it got you into the story faster. He also supposedly hated the lift hill at the end of Disneyland's ride, too, so it was eliminated for WDW. Too bad, but even a shortened Pirates is possibly better than no Pirates. It's still an "E-Ticket" experience!
