EX-cuse me!!! But that was Scott Millan et al for Ray. I DO pay attention to that category and it's not just the actors who make movies. (But you know that, silly.)

I disliked Chris Rock, but I'm not a fan of his so go figure. I do like the idea of having new hosts to cover a wide range of interests. I loved Billy Crystal. I loved Letterman. I loved Whoopi.

Ellen would make a perfect host.

I watch each and every category. To me, the Oscars are the cat's meow and I don't really watch any other award shows.

No big reasons, just got tired of talking about Bush, Kerry and Iraq all the time and not talking about OTHER world issues that NEVER gets discussed there. When I tried to bring them up, they fell to the bottom of the page within a week with maybe 10 posts while the election stuff just went on and on and on. It should be called World Events for a REASON! It just became a place of "left vs. right" tied to American issues and anything that didn't fit into that little comparment is rarely mentioned there, so I left :). Also, got sick of yelling at people LOL!!

OKAY, BACK ON TOPIC: Personnally, I never had a problem with ANY of the hosts with the 20+ years I been watching the Oscars. Some are better than others, but no matter who they were, they usually made me laugh. Steve Martin was actually very good, but he seems like an actor who played James Bond in one or two movies that no one ever talks about again ;). I wouldn't mind seeing him again.

Its also funny that they made such a HUGE deal about Rock being "edgy and controversial" for the Oscars because I kind of thought Whoopi did basically the same thing, no? Her comedy act isn't exactly tame and censor-free like Bob Hope's ;).

Agree, if I remember correctly she took a lot of flack for her remarks. I thought she was on the money.

Also - understand about World Events!

I almost didn't watch either because of my antipathy towards Rock, but I'm a big Clint Eastwood fan (not of everything he's done in and with his life, but overall), so I tuned in to see how that would come out. Plus, my wife wanted to watch the whole damn thing so it was either that or go to my room. I also didn't have the option of going to Paris, either.
