And there's space for people to do the Electric Slide to a bad cover band too! But to do a huge D23 Expo inside a working theme park with 40,000 attendees and dozens of different venues needed for all that D23 Expo encompasses? Talk about major downsizing and major logistical nightmares. D23 Expo is on a bit of thin ice as it is, and moving it to Epcot would be the death knell. Now, Epcot could maybe host a Destination D event in the off-season, although that also brings with it some logistical issues to work through.

Add to that special rental events, conventions, etc.. and Epcot is very well versed in handling special functions in the parks. If you want a bunch of booths or the look of a tradeshow at a convention center, no, Epcot is not the place for it. But if you want a truly unique Disney experience that a family will travel across the country to see that you can market as a vacation experience to see all of the wonders of the Disney experience of what's and what's next then Epcot can certainly host it. Think less marketing gimmick / comicon / megacon / thing that ends in con / autoshow / etc.. and more of a unique experience that you can use to drive attendance to Disney largest north american resort. I will make you watch the Danny Kaye video again, I swear I will.

Tell him you feel D23 Expo needs to be moved to Epcot in order to thrive, and then let us know his response. At the very least it plants a seed with him, because I'm very confident no one but yourself is thinking D23 Expo needs to be moved to Epcot in 2013.
