Being in Utah, it will be hard to get to the Expo - which sounds pretty cool. I wonder how much more $$ it will cost to get into the Expo.

The magazine looks cool, same with the certificate - but that's about all the membership would get me. Unless I knew for sure about pre-screenings of Disney films in my area, and the price dropped, I probably won't join.

The privelege of buying other merchandise I can't afford isn't much of a draw, either.

It would have to come with something right off the bat that I perceived as worth $75 for me to join.

Which isn't to say it won't appeal to anyone else.

I read the site and you are supposed to get some kind of collectible-- I'm thinking WDCC level piece. With Enesco handling that now - is this just a replacement line of stuff to boost interest ?

I know there will be a few takers, but basicly paying $75 to be able to buy more stuff isn't going to attract a whole bunch of people.

I saw mostly Dave Pacheco collectors, his work is wonderful and his collector base is very active and bought his art despite the D23 logo mat and not because of it - and a few character specific collectors that I know from the NFFC - Tink collectors buying the Tink art and Jiminy collectors buying the Jiminy art Mickey collectors buying... - and several of the better known secondary market "Mouse-ka-profiteers" buying to stock their e-Bay stores.

Very few of those I expected to see actually cared to come. Even the HCNB pin collectors weren't there.

    They should have been.

I wanted to get some sort of sense of the fan reaction to D23 roll-out - as reading the backlash on-line was dis-heartening to the extreme - and so I grabbed a cup of coffee and began watching the line at about 8:50am and never at any point were there more than 30 people waiting - all - ALL - of those I spoke to - except for Benji of course
    - had not yet joined or had no plans to join until they had more information about the "club".

By 10:15 - 45 minutes before the 2-hour signing was scheduled to close there was not a single "fan" in line. I'm heading back over when Disneyana re-opens after the signing strike to see what's left of the LE and D23 stuff.

I know that the sun has yet to burn off the overcast here in Anaheim - but it's chilly this morning and D23 has some work to do if their prospects - and their target audience are to warm-up.

Lots of nice sketch-inspired graphics, which I love!

At least you can see what the offered pieces are to help you determine if you want to join.
