There is more to worry about in the real world and frankly, indeed my musings would probably offend too many people. And I wonder what is the point? I think I could offer quite a unique perspective, but the flames would just keep coming. What really chaps my hide about some of the criticisms is this was done from my sick bed. I am no journo, and I have no inside track. I just breathe this stuff in my little free time. I wonder if collecting something might be a better hobby?

It's being presented as opinion not fact and everyone should read it as such. At the same time if you are willing to put your opinions out there then you have to be prepared for people to disagree and tell you that they do. It makes no difference to me that you were sick when you wrote the piece as before it was posted you were happy with it. You felt it represented what you wanted to say. I doubt that much would have changed if you wrote it now. I'd like to move on from this now. I'd be happy to read your blog in the future, sometimes I'll agree with you and sometimes I won't, but be prepared for me to say so either way. I actually do agree with a lot of what you have to say. Dark days would be shameful, but I don't know if speculating to accumulate is the right policy either at this time. DLP on the other hand need to get moving as they could capitalise on the current economic situation (something they failed to do 15 years ago). Both parks need work attraction-wise and they always seem to do well with attraction specific advertising. As much as I dislike Armageddon getting rid of it would be a huge mistake. Let's add Narnia to the Tram Tour. WDSP is the perfect place for the edutainment philosophy of the old MGM Studios. I know language can be an issue, but let's get behind the scenes and see some real movie magic. I'll take my Disney fix however I can get it. Even in these dark times I'll still make a special trip to a Disney Store and I'll be in Warwick on Saturday trying to score back issues of Tales... from my dealer!!!

So they look for perceived insults under every rock. Example. I think the McPooh Playground is a vile piece of crap. I write that. You like sitting there watching your kids play. You somehow twist it around that I feel you're a worthless piece of crap and so are your kiddies because you like the place ... and on and on it goes. And that's before you use terms like 'rednecks.' We can kid around about it here (or most of us can), but many people might be offended because it is a derogatory term. But at some point you start lying to yourself and your readers if you start being afraid to tell things like they are. Remember Al Lutz's Defenders of Mediocrity. Was it inflammatory? Hell, yeah. Was it accurate? I sure think so. All I can say is don't let it get to you. You have a great perspective ... and I, for one, want to read more of it!

That attitude has served me well when saying things people don't want to hear. Colored socks and trainers. That sounds as brit as Bangers and Mash? Dave next time your over here swing by the Wal-Mart and pick up a 10 pack of white socks. Colored socks and sandles, now thats sooooo French Canadian.
Originally Posted By X-san ***You have a great perspective ... and I, for one, want to read more of it!*** Me too. And, what dsh said. Why should you care what people think? If someone writes something that you agree is a legitimate complaint, apologize and change it. If not, say "I don't agree, but I'm sorry you feel that way" and move on. Or ignore them altogether if they're a jerk to you (why bother with someone that would behave like a jerk, even anonymously?). I know it's hard not to take stuff personally (particularly from strangers online), but that's the real trick I think. I do hope you continue, I'm interested in checking out more of what you have to say.

But my opinion of what a redneck or chav looks like is a differnt one to Dave's opinion. But I agree there do exist but do not reflect most of the UK, but you notice them more because these people stick out more. Again its one person's opinion and shouldn't be taken seriously. Dave I've read your coments on here, and a couple of other boards and the coments good or bad have been amazing and have caused a far more greater response to the average Al Lutz or Kevin Yee article. A sign that not only have you hit a raw nerve with some people but also people value your opinion enough to argue back. Look forward to next blog post.

I am having Mouse withdrawal as it has been almost a year since my last trip - and none planned for summer due to scheduling issues - but going in December.
