To me, the only problem with it was putting it in too large a theatre. DLR theatre attractions tend to lose audiences after a while, and that's even true of more elaborate productions, let alone a simple film with little else going on. But as one attraction of many in a "welcome center" (which is what I think the Cathay Circle should have been) in a smaller theatre (maybe the size of Turtle Talk), it could still work.

Eventually all theatre presentations get old and "won't be missed" - Captain Eo, for me, after the first buzz of excitement in the 80's, ran its course pretty quickly. It was essentially a long music video with some 3D effects. By the time it went away, most were more than ready for it. Put Golden Dreams in a TT-size theatre, though, as one of a suite of attractions in a "Welcome to CA center" and it makes sense.

Good idea about a California wellcome center, but just want Golden dreams to to with Eo to outer space never to return!

So when Walt based a whole land on a historical time of the country (Frontierland), did that count as leaving the World Behind? Having an attraction that covers the history of this state is actually offensive to you?

Hmmmm.... The "Two Brothers" segment of Great Moments With Mr Lincoln (and the seriousness of the message in his address) comes to mind along with several different dramatic segments of The American Adventure at EPCOT. Not everything at Disney Parks is supposed to be sunshine and rainbows.

I see the late 80's early 90's as being the move away from that starting with Splash Mountain, Toontown and Fantasmic.

I used to go to Disney parks to engage my mind in a fun way. I don't give a squat about TSMM, the Little Mermaid Dark Ride nor half of Carsland.
