How about that Star Tours upgrade finally getting announced and a real indiana jones ride?

It should be well-known, by now, that Disney Management often plans to do something a certain way and then--without warning--changes its collective mind and throws everyone off balance by an announcement like this latest one. But that does not mean the insightful messengers around here were wrong to share what they had heard. This is why we have discussion boards to begin with; to vent speculations and to share information with others who have similar interests. It should also be understood, by now, that nothing is written in stone. With that in mind, we should be willing to forgive the occasional absense of total and complete accuracy in another duckling's prediction or speculation. Unless it can be proven that the messenger in question is deliberately trying to play misleading little games just for the sake of annoying us, my sisters and I say GIVE THEM A BREAK!

The fact that Disney just registered the "Disney's Hollywood" names the other day clearly indicates that this was a quick almost overnight decision. Spirit said a new name and rebranding was coming and alot of other insiders were saying the same thing but the final name of the "new" park wasn't decided until just a few days ago. My guess is they were going to go with Disney-Pixar studios but backed off for a few reasons...mainly due to the fact that Lucas and Henson play a role in the park and may be having a larger role in the future and because of other attractions like Twilight Zone and Great Movie ride. Plus, i'm sure disney knows that alot of the disney fan community is alittle annoyed with the overexposure of pixar in the parks and that was possibly one of the many factors as well.

I also can tell you that this was a very last-minute decision. If you can't see that from the way Disney waited to secure the domains, well, I don't know what I can tell you. And since the plan was to go with Disney-Pixar, one might wonder why it was changed as the clock was about to strike midnight. I have two words as to why I believe (and no, I don't know this as 100% fact, but being an 'insider' and all, I have a good idea) this didn't happen. Those two words are: George Lucas.

Registering domains is public information, which would make it a pretty sure way of tipping the rumor mill off to a piece of information that they preferred to keep under wraps. There really is no strong motivator to register the domains any earlier since the inclusion of the Disney trademark would allow them to easily take ownership from anyone that beat them to the registration. -Jeff

It gives everyone here a chance to offer an opinion or to speculate and there's no harm in that--as long as there's no deliberate attempt to mislead Doobie's ducklings just for the sake of misleading. After all, is this not a place for good fellowship among ducklings who are friends? No need for petty jealousies or unkind words which end up hurting someone. Just be glad there is a forum around to discuss such things.

I don't, for the most part, post rumors at all (and when I do, I label them as such). I tend to post facts that Disney just hasn't seen fit to release to the general public yet, along with my opinions. I'll let my track record speak for itself as to whether my information has been good or not. As to being anonymous, well, we all are here, aren't we? Now, I well know that some in power at Disney know exactly who I am, and I'm cool with that. But I have no desire to put my personal info out on a message board to the world. And whether you want to dispute my post or not, Disney's history and SOP speaks to them registering domains months and years in advance ... often for projects that never get off the ground or simply to keep others from them. I sincerely doubt Disney suddenly did an about face just because they were afraid they'd tip folks off about the name-change and it might appear on some online blog ... it's just not that significant. When I add that to the fact that many high up the food chain in Glendale and Burbank had never heard of this as a possible rebranding, it sounds to me like something thrown together at the last minute by Michael Mendenhall and his team.

It's wouldn't be surprising at all to see a lot better control of information coming out of the Disney dream factories.

Now I don't think Spirit needs me to defend him, but I've always found his inside knowledge to be excellent. I may not always agree with his opinions, however I think everything he saids is delivered in an honest, and informed manner. I've also notice that he states if it's his opinion, not a sure thing. I appreciate anyone who adds to a topic in an intelligent way.
