Actually, just about every movie that came out, they'll have characters come out, ie UP, Cars, Toy Story, etc. The characters come out right before the movie premieres.

(you could also say that Avatar is so much like Pocahontas) Tron came out in 1982. I don't think you were born yet... It was the first full length CGI movie mixed with live action. The movie was just ok, could have easily been better. Had so much potential though. Hopefully Tron 2 will make up for it.

Originally Posted By Dr Hans Reinhardt "Wasn't Tiana's Showboat Jubilee and obvious commercial too - for a movie?" I complained about that too. Look, I'm not saying that this is anything new, just that the amount of Disney promoting Disney at the parks - versus providing entertainment and attractions about the parks' various themes - has reached a saturation point for me. The level at which they are doing this now is unprecedented.

Hopefully you understand my irritation with all the Princess and Pixar stuff that they keep putting in the parks these days. It all starts to look and feel the same to me.

And you know, in my opinion, given the fact that you can buy just about any item known to man with a Disney princess on it, in the theme parks, there really isn't a whole lot of representation of them as far as attractions go. I mean you have the meet and greets, sure, but aside from Snow White's Scary Adventure (which is a classic sure, but drastically needs an update or at the very least an ENDING!) there really isn't any other attraction based on them which is kind of surprising.

And I love Tron and The Black Hole. And I loved them when I was a kid. Same thing. But to the point, I would probably be sick of them both if they had been exploited to the point that Pixar and the Princesses have been. It's the growing commercialization of the parks that I find annoying.

Originally Posted By Dr Hans Reinhardt "No matter what movie it is you're going to have exploitation of it. It doesn't ruin the movies or attractions for me though." No, it ruins the overall experience because the attractions are no longer about the themes (future, adventure, the frontier, California, etc.) but about some Disney brand that is being sold to you. That new skin on the WDW Monorail is the perfect example of what is wrong with Disney's mindset today. The last time I was at DLR the Pirates craze was in full swing. The amount of Pirates merchandise in the parks (not just NOS or Adventureland) was just overwhelming. All I could think about was how intrusive and commercial it all seemed.
