A Disney water park in that area would go gangbusters, be relatively easy to do in a small space, and generate LOTS of money in food/beverage/stuff. Particularly if they ran it seasonally... Even if they only did part of it as a water park, and added other rides, it would soak up people and money. I just wish they'd done a "sea" theme already, where they could have put Ariel, Nemo, and all the other sea critters. ;)

I think it would be so cool to have one close to DL with the miniature DL Anaheim area. I know Sea World and Lego Amusement Parks are in San Diego but these are smaller and different.

and with only a 5 day hopper now offered-well, that is a lot of expense in air travel, hotels and the necessity of eating away from home for only 5 days.
with the crowds, i am not sure a famliy can see all of dl with a 5 day pass.
at least, not like us starrs- we want to do every ride, show, etc.
'cause the whole clan can only come about every 3 to 4 years already due to the $$$$$.
i would love to see much thinner crowds!!!
as would the ap holders on the days that they do go.

I'm not sure a water park will work for a long enough period in the OC as it is not that hot except for a few months in the OC.

That's why other then the very first time we went to WDW, we bought APs when we'd go. We were making one trip a year for the first 3 years, but the pass helped. We're not locals, so no Florida discount, but we could park hop, got a discount on the room & tried to go before or after spring break, to avoid some of the crowds.

Yes, it would have been nice to go on everything but we chose our battles. If waiting for fireworks was a priority, then going on space mountain might have to be skipped, etc.

People (APers and Day Guests both) seem to think it's their right to do & see everything because they paid X dollars. Well, guess what - it's not.

We've missed out on so much at WDW because we live in Southern Calif. We don't take our APs for Dland for granted & we sure don't expect to do everything, every time we go. That's WHY we have passes. We might go in for dinner & a ride or two, but there's lots of times we eat outside the park & just take a walk around looking in the shops before getting ice cream or dessert & going home.

We're not in the day guests way nor are we in the out of towners way. We're eating ice cream, they're riding rides.
If a group of us choose to wait 4 hours for Fantasmic, it's because it's the only time all year that we do wait.

Most SoCal water parks run from Memorial Day through the end of September, and many only go that long because they're weekends only - not exactly a gigantic season. But an indoor waterpark, or even one with a retractable roof? Now we're talkin'. Could be why Great Wolf is interested in setting up shop in Garden Grove.

Boy, talk about an idea that couldn't hold water. Is that project officially dead?

The problem I see with a water park in Anaheim, aside from the unpredictability of California coastal temperatures, is that there are already quite a few water parks in the region, plus dozens of very nice beaches. For some reason a water park at DLR doesn't have the same appeal to me as it does in hot steamy Central Florida.
