It seems right now that the employees are asking us to thank them directly by giving our business to the hotels that ARE continuing to hold up their end of the bargain. Doing it in a "distasteful" way is what they know they need to do to get peoples' attention.

It says nothing about employers saying thanks. It only mentions what employees should do if they think they deserve more. MY post was that "I" tip whenever I can. "I" understand that it is an appropriate way to say Thanks from the CUSTOMER'S point of view.

I tip to say thank you from ME. It has nothing to do with what the employees are being paid by their employer. That is between them.
