I'm not an expert on the WDW parks. But I do know that Disneyland's Space Mountain opened in '77, and WDW's opened in '75. Basic, broad dates like that are easy to remember for at least the major iconic E Tickets, because I have a genuine interest in the parks. Clearly the people running Disney's corporate website don't have that basic level of knowledge or interest of the subject matter they are shilling to the world. That's a real shame, too. A quick 30 second Google search led me a couple sites that state the roof was added over WDW's teacup ride in 1973. If the video linked here is from the Fall of 1973, as was my initial hunch that now seems to be pretty accurate, that would mean the roof could have been built at any time in the previous 9 or 10 months and was a new structure when this film was shot. I caught a glimpse of some teenage girls in one of the first Skyway cabins on this film and saw their long, ironed flat hair a la' Marcia Brady and it instantly looked like the early 1970's to me. The polyester Sears Roebuck casual wear seen later on the Teacups also looks very Nixon-era to me as well. I'd bet two churros this footage was shot at some time from September-December, 1973. Although from the angle and intensity of the sun, it would seem more likely to be September or October. All in my humble, amateur opinion of course. ;-)

Except for a few fanboys who would simply find something else to complain about.

I think one of Disney's biggest problems is that the people RUNNING the show don't know the HISTORY of the show. Which is absurd. How do you promote and further your product without that?

I think the problem in this instance is that it's so obvious that the video is not from '75 because Space Mountain is clearly in the early stages of construction.

Another thought: I once saw a "movie" called "Disneyland after Dark" which was filmed in the mide 60's IIRC, almost 50 years ago. I found it fascinating to watch this time capsule. In the film all of the small children present are now middle age, and the teens and young adults are now seniors, and anyone who was older than that is probably now taking a dirt nap. Thinking about that gave me a sense of the timelessness about DL. I first rode in the skyway in the 60's when I was 6 years old and now that I'm middle aged I realize that people will be enjoying DL long after I have left this world.
