Really? I've heard nothing of good things about it.

The choose-your-ending was a neat idea, even if it was never completely convincing as a simulator. Just a very unique and ambitious ride of a kind we'll probably never see again.

P.S. Didja ever see the website with the guys who would sneak out of their Horizons ride vehicles and take pictures of the sets? Fascinating stuff if you miss Horizons.

Poorly designed ride vehicles don't let you see a lot, and they're painful because you have to like crane your neck to get a good view.

Me neither. Long waits and fakey looking stuff in the water. Diesel fumes in that whole area of the park. The subs also were not good at all for someone with claustrophobia like me.

I was so disappointed the one time I rode them. I had wanted to ride them ever since I saw them at Disneyland when I was a kid. I didn't get to ride then though... the attractions was closed for rehab. I was so excited by the thought of getting to ride them my first time at WDW. Total letdown... I never rode them again.

WDW, never mind 20K, isn't a good place to be if you're claustrophobic.

I understand that sentiment, but I think the lagoon was really a nice visual in that section of the park. Maybe it helps if you're a big fan of the Kirk Douglas-James Mason movie, too.

I definitely agree here. The lagoon was very pretty.

I was thinking about this earlier when someone said Toad was overrated. I thought back to the first time I rode it (when I was 8), I remember one of the coolest things EVER was the train effect. It is a true sensory thrill. And one of the coolest parts is that the magic is intentionally blown when you pass under the light and realize it's not a train at all. And you know what? It still works on the little ones. Haha. Good fun.

But back to the subs. Even at 8 I understood HOW the fx were done, but I still thought it was cool how they gave the effect of "diving" by releasing the bubbles that floated past the window. Yeah, the fishes looked increadibly fake. But I am sure the big brained boys at WDI could have fixed that in the past 40 years or so. I think 20K would have been a great place for some extra cool new fx. Like they could have added a cute little cartoon clown fish and...oh wait.

Anyway, I liked Toad better than I like Pooh. And I really liked the subs.

You've heard right. I rode the thing 5-6 times easy in December and it is a great update of the 20K concept. I think it's not really fair to judge something like a ride until ... well, you ride it (in most cases ... obviously a spinner is just that etc).

As to answer the OP poll ... using ONLY what was listed, I would pick RC in a heartbeat because it was a PARK, not an attraction. And a unique special part of the real MAGIC of WDW! Also, unlike all the others listed (except for the Swan Boats, which were nice and peaceful but always a seasonal deal), RC wasn't replaced. Worse, it sits rotting away and is a public safety hazzard until DVC comes.

How about a MAGICal WDW bus at midnight on a sweltering summer's night on the way back to the ASS or POP?

The lagoon and the subs and the Skyway and the keelboats, canoes and Swan Boats all added kinetics and a true park-like vibe that has long since left in favor of vast swaths of concrete and small planters with saplings and wood chips. It is not MAGICal.

The MK used to be beautiful and now it honestly would rank dead last of all the five MK parks to me in terms of basic beauty ... it all was once beautiful. Now, only select locales.

I adore that film. Easily one of my top favorites of all time.

Honorable Mention: Adventureland Veranda as a full-time restaurant! You would think with the rise of the dining plan one would see this re-open permanently, even for full-service.

I've heard some nice rumors for that slice of Adventureland... Hope they come true.
