It's just too bad they couldn't think of something cooler for the Carousel Theater building. See? I don't see D-land as a museum. Some of the changes they've made over the years have been phenomenal. I just don't want every single ride to have a friggin movie or character tie-in.

When last I heard, this concept wasn't going to Shanghai, which meant it also wasn't going anywhere else. This despite the fact there is a building on the Shanghai art that looks for all the world like either the Innoventions building or a not-built concept for an EPCOT Space pavilion. Of course, I had heard Space Mountain wasn't going to be here (replaced by Tron) and neither are on the park art I have studied. I dunno ... it all just appears that someone is hoping by getting this out in the fan community there will be some groundswell for it and Iger/Staggs/Rasulo will give it a green light. But it just isn't that easy. If China has passed, then I don't see anyway it's coming to Anaheim. And that's the situation ... right now.

Just love it too much. I'm not that wild-eyed.

The theme is "Anything kinda spacey/futuristic goes." I'd love to see the land reimagined within a more cohesive way -- like they're doing with Carsland or Buena Vista Street, but that is not likely to happen anytime soon. And maybe it only matters to geeks like me anyway by now.

The future here is looking even more muddled, confused, and lost: In the future fish talk to us, about how to find the East Australian Current. We'll go battle with toys combating an evil emperor out to steal all Double A batteries. Do more battle with sith lords of another galaxy from the past. And next ... we'll all be super heroes to battle more BADDIES with special powers, or special armored costumes with snazy color patterns. You getting a growing subtext???! WOW! That's my future? Can hardly wait! A Tomorrowland run by executives who have watched too many Villain over Hero - Hero over Villain films. And think it's alright to gloss Tomorrowland with one too many Hero/Villain fighting sub themes!

I would suspect that the deals for Universal Studios Japan and Madam Tussauds London would impact the nearby Disney Resorts.

Why not use the properties you have and have some fun with it?

Autopia takes up an enormous amout of space - space that could be given over to some other - better - kind of attraction, one with larger capacity and that appeals to a larger group of guests. I've heard for years that they cannot put anything on top of the sub bunker. Fine, leave it landscaped with some fountains, and build around it. And clear out the 'spaghetti bowl' of peoplemover track and most of the monorail track. Move the monorail station way back by the parade entrance with a new area with dining and retail. Then the track passes around the matterhorn and down the center of TL promenade, as a replacement for the old PM tracks that would be gone to yesterland. Autopia, through all of it's various incarnations over the years, has never been anything more than a glorified go-kart track. This isn't the kind of 'classic' attraction people should get misty about. It's a lot of valuable square footage, staffed by a lot of CMs, for a low capacity ride that doesn't interest most of their guests. Opening up the back NE quadrant of the park to guests with a new expansion area would increase the capacity of the entire park, as well as upgrading one of the park's least interesting areas. I'm hoping that the success of RSR will only hasten the end of Autopia - and the beginnings of something new.

That is from the un-built Dubai Marvel park, before Disney bought out Marvel.
