It is a tour into the past. The vehicles leave load go around the bend but as you go down the tunnel to time travel the lighting is terrible and even though the vehicle shakes you never really get a clear illusion that you have time traveled. The attraction then starts off ok with various dino's but one the whole meteor and being chased story line begins you are plunged into darkness and thrown around violently. It is just terrible story telling. I even hate the name. I preferred Countdown to Extinction. For me it is one of those attractions that could have been done better. It's not the queue or the ride system, just shoddy story telling.

Indy does it much better. Honestly I think the Dinosaur could be amazing if Disney went in and made some changes. The ride wouldn't need a complete redo. Just a focusing of the story, losing some of the dark areas and plusing some of the scenes.

Just watched a video on youtube posted by coaster news, of the ride with the lights on.

It's just not themed to a bridge. I was originally going to be a bridge, but they got rid of it before construction. Indy/Ball scene is the final Carnatour head before the time machine brings you back.
Originally Posted By FerretAfros If you know the Indy track layout pretty well, it's very easy to pick out when you cross the 'bridge' in Dinosaur. After a few sharp turns, it's the long flat perfectly straight section of track. Since nearly all of the rest of the track is either on a curve of vertical slope of some manner, that's the easiest part to pick out. Similarly, the part just after Indy's snake room, where you travel down hill toward the giant decaying Mara head, is where you dip under the pteradactyl in Dinosaur. Again, since it's a relatively unique part of the track, it's somewhat easier to pick out

Of course, I had already been tipped off that the track layout is exactly the same. The reason it seems different is that there is never a perception of being in "the big room" in Dinosaur. It seems more like a series of hills and drops that are unrelated to Indy. But, as others here have said, it is the same exact layout.

Add in 15 years of spotty maintenance by WDW's overworked maintenance crews, and Dinosaur is just painful to visit a few days after you've been on Indy in Anaheim. Indy has had several rehabs in the past five years, ranging from a couple that were just few days to a couple that were a few weeks to the most recent multiple-month rehab. Has Dinosaur at DAK had even one rehab, even just a couple of days long, in the last five years? I can find no evidence of one online, and judging by the way the ride currently looks maintained, it's been more than five years. A decade since the last rehab?
