The weather in Anaheim is seasonably warm, highs in the low to mid 80's the last few days, but definitely not real hot. When the next heat wave arrives and we get up into the 90's, the Monorail team is unsure just how bad it will be with a train full of sweaty bodies operating in the direct sun for hours at a time. They are going to play it by ear. Until then, random short testing with guests will continue. No word on Monorail Blue, which still needs a lot of the fixes and patches applied to Red. Poor little Bethany, she got some folks all excited about air conditioning that doesn't exist. ;-)

Or perhaps it's time to get creative, perhaps install piping with the water to cool the air and actually cool the liquid that goes through the piping at the stations, then drain and refill the piping when the monorail reaches the stations, providing enough cool liquid for each portion of the trip, this would provide Air Conditioning, the piping could be used to cool the air that is already being pumped into the cabins and would reduce the amount of weight that is needed, not to mention it reduces the power requirements for the Monorail as it would draw power at the stations not from the tracks, which is probably one of the largest problems, I can't believe that weight is that big of an issue, as there are plenty of things that could be done easily to the track to compensate for additional weight.

Considering this is July, basically that means the first few hours of the morning and the evening hours when the sun has set and the temps drop back into the 70's.

WDI is to blame for a lot of the problems under the skin of the new monorails, and there are still plenty of those issues to go around. But the window disaster is totally at the feet of the Disneyland Safety Department. Although, one could argue that an Imagineer thinking through mandated design changes might have considered air flow and cabin temperatures when that window requirement was handed to them. Perhaps WDI did bring that issue up however, only to be shot down by the Safety Nazis from TDA. The new monorails are a design and functionality disaster now approaching the scale of Rocket Rods, and many of the folks responsible will just blend into the woodwork and no one will ever know.

Not that there is anything close enough to grab ahold of, but not a good situation regardless.

Who spends this kind of money and cuts holes in the vehicle and puts those ugly vents in? I'd like to see how they plan to keep the rain out of those vents. Yeah, it'll work, sort of but YEACH!!!! We can only HOPE that those vents are temporary because of the pressure to get Mono RED on the beamway and in service with plans to come up with a better idea. There were a couple ideas on the Mono Orange Arrives string...... But those vents are so crap, they cant be permananet. It just isnt DISNEY (or is that "Old Disney") to do that to a thing of beauty. ID Please hold onto your packagages, cameras and children until the monorail comes to a complete stop.

Now we have nothing? <<<< Not nothing! The monorail has an innerbeauty, for a train with 20 year old cabs and new nosecones and tailcones. But the original idea was to make it look like the MK I and MK II with a modern flare. They did that. The dryer vents are installed two in the front and aft of each car, on each side of the roof hand rail, so 4 per car. It looks like they are over the angle area for and aft of the compartment. In the pics you can see the holes in the ceiling, and also the dryer vent in the roof. The VId is really hard to see them because of the quality but the pics put them right there. Make your own opinion of how they look. I dont like them. The hatches were not equipped with the scoops initially, but the scoops have been in place for 2 months already. The roof itself has not been changed, only the emergency hatches. Red is currently cleared to carry 15 passengers per cabin when the temperature is below 80 degrees. Otherwise, it is not clear to carry passengers.

Hey they can replace the hatch if they can figure out a different way to cool the cars. >>>>>>Red is currently cleared to carry 15 passengers per cabin when the temperature is below 80 degrees. I suppose during all this experimentation, BLUE and ORANGE will sit in the garage? I guess that makes sense..... ID Please insert your ear plugs before the monorail continues to the next station
