I hope Disney wins this one and give the job to someone who wants to work. There are plenty of unemployed people out there who need jobs.

But, after scanning through a gallery of these head dresses, this fall in complete accordance. And actually, some were very beautiful with gold, pearl and jewel adornment. I, like Hans, am not Muslim but I would bet that Disney checked with more than a few on what is appropriate for a Muslim woman to wear before going to design. Speculation, yes, but educated speculation.

Some things like long beards may keep you from a job for OSHA reasons, but if there's a law forbiding people against wearing religious garb at work, I guess I'll have to go tell the Sikh who owns and runs a local restaurant to stop wearing his turban.

I don't think so. She saw how much press New York was getting and then said, I could make money off of it. The timing is just to perfect for it to be anything else. Would you work at a work place for two years, know the dress code, know how strictly it is enforced and then be surprised when two years later after joining the Disney team when Disney says, I don't think so go home and change?

I find Disney's solution reasonable. It allows her to conform to the letter of her religion's law, does it not?

When Muslims aren't even in agreement on what should be worn, what should be covered, who should wear it, etc., how can you be so positive? Some basic info from Wiki(yes I know, its not always the most reliable) The Arabic word literally means curtain or cover (noun). Most Islamic legal systems define this type of modest dressing as covering everything except the face and hands in public. According to Islamic scholarship, hijab is given the wider meaning of modesty, privacy, and morality;[3] the word for a headscarf or veil used in the Qur'an is khimār (خمار) and not hijab. Traditionally, Muslims have recognized many different forms of clothing as satisfying the demands of hijab. The latest seems a nice alternative that would seem to satisfy her requirements. You don't feel that way, thats fine. Disney seems to think otherwise. Should religious freedom allow you to do any job at any company while wearing what you want; or does it allow you to work at any company doing the job they want you to do while wearing what you want. The law may favor one side or the other, but we are getting to the point where companies can't run things the way they would like them ran. Lets say 1% of the people that meet this lady while she is wearing her hijab are turned off by it and never go back to DL. Thats lost business they won't get back.
