Guess we have to blame all those other guests who make up such big crowds now. ORDDU: Considering all that, I'd say that Disney does a good job--for the most part--of creating meetings and greetings for their many characters. While some guests come to the park to experience mostly the rides, there seems to be another group who comes mostly for the characters, parades and various entertainments. ORWEN: If you've done the attractions as many times as we have, you start to want to see more characters and parades after a while. Aside from that, it was always the Disney movies and their characters that attracted us most to Disney. The theme park attractions were more like side dishes to enjoy AFTER meeting your favorite characters.

Originally Posted By Mr X ***The Japanese tend not to be idiots in public. Something that is perfectly safe in Japan is not perfectly safe in America*** Incorrect. They only tend not to be idiots in public ABROAD. They are perfectly insane in their home country. The characters do get mobbed from time to time. The simply deal with it. It's not that big a deal, it's just an excuse as far as I'm concerned.

Only a fool would put up with hordes of unmanageable crowds just to shake hands with a little person in a rubber head costume. given the demand, an organized system with scheduled times makes far more sense to me.

I grew an interest in the animation to better understand the decisions made in the parks. Frankly though, I wouldn't care if they ripped out every single reference to animation in the parks around the globe, in fact I think I would prefer it. To me Disneyland was always about Adventure, Frontier and Tomorrow, as well as enjoying America of yesteryear. At WDW, the finest work was Epcot and then DAK. Frankly I really hate most of the animated crap and feel like it has totally ruined the Disney parks for me now. Kind oflike the time I drank a bottle of Bailey's after 10 pints of beer, it made me sick, and now I cannot stand it. Same thing with toons.
