While other Ghibli films may have also been well written, this is the first time I've recognized the story in the trailers. There are a couple times that the 'borrower' name is used to identify the little people, but I think that clearly saying that it's based on the well-known book would probably help the cause a lot. It certainly couldn't hurt it!

Disney has been slowly relinquishing the various rights it has to the Ghibli catalog worldwide. IIRC, that includes the European and British home video rights. Perhaps Hayao Miyazaki saw Cars 2? (No doubt John Lasseter saw Tales From Earthsea ....)
