So do you understand why buses are pretty far down the priority list? There are so many improvements needed that are so much more important! It is not about being "dumbed down"... it is knowing what is more important and that we aren't about to get everything.

So why wouldn't the bus system be a valid point of criticism in that current vacuum lacking any other theme park projects?

On my trip every bus was on time, if not waiting for me. And the temperature was not a problem.

Definitely with you on the D or # rides, but considering so many of you place so much importance on staying on property and using the crappy bus system within WDW, I'd figure them busses must as well be at the higher standards of disney show to make what is otherwise a ghetto trip thru a hotel complex something extra special.

And I am also with the person who mentioned "safety" over "look". Being in the airline business, safety is first and foremost the highest priority which is why the plane food sucks. Same for Disney's transport system. Bus appearance sucks but at least it gets you from point A to B safely.

    Such a controversial stance.

And seeing as how mass transit in the U.S. generally SUCKS, that is probably all we ask.

And they should get rid of the Diesel busses and use CNG ones instead, because they don't smell that bad.

For the time being, the new paint scheme appears to only be for new buses, but I'm sure they'll roll it out fo rthe entire fleet in the coming months.

As for the articulated buses, I would guess that they're holding off for the moment because they don't have the infrastructure to support them. The larger buses need bigger parking and loading spaces, larger turning radii, in addition to a bigger maintenance facility backstage. Disney recently submitted plans for an expansion of the Magic Kingdom bus depot, and that appeared to include spaces for articulated buses.

My guess is that they will introduce articulated buses for some of the high-traffic routes, but keep the 40' ones for the majority of them. It's really only right at park closing that it's ever an issue (and occasionally in the mornings), since the current buses seldom have to turn people away. Running smaller buses means they'll run with more frequency, making waits shorter, which I would prefer.

I would guess that they all will be switched to fit the Articulated buses. The way most bus systems work is that they switch routes about every run to prevent never ending delays on one route if something happens (breakdown, accident) My experience with AB's is that they do need more room to load and unload because the front and rear door has to line up with level ground close to the curb to prevent accidents happening to people stepping on or off. The rest is questionable. Having driven them I think that they actually require less turning radius then a 40 foot bus.

At best, considering the cost, they will only replace existing buses when their life is used up. We are talking quite a few years to get a sizable fleet. In the meantime they can fix the bus stops and a 40 footer can use them as well as an articulated.

I've never thought about the infrastructure. The articualted busses are so common over here that I took the infrastructure for granted.

I've been laying low with regards to TDLFAN, because we have something of a history. But I just can't let this go. This isn't "Laughing Place - where everyone must agree with TDLFAN". It's Laughing Place - where everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and we discuss them back and forth. I certainly don't agree with TDLFAN most times, but I strongly defend his right to pitch his ideas, just as I strongly defend those who disagree with him. To say that someone shouldn't post his opinions simply because they don't agree with TDLFAN is just silly.

And on the topic of the thread, I think the new busses are an improvement over the old design. Would I like monorails and peoplemovers going to every location? Of course. But till that happens the busses work pretty well. And I'll also say that if Disney had put a bunch of money into the theming of these new busses, a lot of folks around here would be complaining that Disney is putting their money in the wrong place and should be creating new attractions, not wasting money on something so mundane as bus design. Can't win.
